XAVIER CARDRICHE
BALCONYTV.COM 23/05/2007
PRESENTED BY TOM MILLETT
Xavier Cardriche was raised in a musically diverse household that ranged from his mother's love for The Beatles to his father's devoutness to Fela Kuti. Even at a young age, Xavier felt the intensity of music and soaked up everything from Mariachi to Motown.
After picking up a guitar some years ago, Xavier's been going strong since. He began playing alongside his friends, who taught him the basics, and after mastering some Bruce Springsteen and Van Morrison covers, songwriting came instinctively. Over time and numerous graveyard shifts, Xavier wrote some original songs, worked the vocal chords out, and played those fledgling songs at local New York City open-mics. The process paid off with a listening audience, feedback, and some paying gigs. Even to this day, Xavier still extends many thanks to his friends for showing him how to bring music to his fingertips.
Xavier's raspy voice and meandering tunes emote an intimacy as if you are sitting alone with him. He is greatly influenced by such artists as David Gray, Dave Matthews, Donovan, Counting Crows, Ryan Adams, Damien Rice, and Jack Johnson.
Currently, Xavier has a short demo under his belt, which was recorded in Brooklyn at Terminal One Studios. The Demo EP features all his original work along with guest appearances from talented local artists. He has just recorded a live performance DVD / CD with his band, The Buybacks, which will be available this Fall.
Xavier has been blessed with a loyal fan base of folks from all walks of life. Whether he is belting out songs in New York, or even busking in Ireland, he flourishes in each venue, however intimate or unconventional.

BALCONYTV DUBLIN 1/03/2009
PRESENTED BY TOM MILLETT
The talented musician from Boston now based in Ireland is set to release his exciting debut album, a move which will thrill his army of fans across the world. Brian Hanlon is preparing to release his debut album later this month, marking a huge stage in the career of the multi-talented acoustic singer-songwriter. Brian, who lives in Cork, Ireland, has just put the final touches to the album, and is now preparing for the imminent release that will hopefully build upon his fan base and get his music heard by more people than ever. The album, ?Switched', consists of eleven original songs from Brian, each providing a combination his high-energy guitar playing, melodious vocals and heartfelt lyrics. The rhythmic undercurrent bears testament to bodhran (a traditional Irish drum) playing, and the music is punctuated throughout with elements of reggae, hip-hop, punk, jazz, pop and R&B. The album was recorded at Sonas Studios in Ireland, and its creation was supported by musicians who have been associated with Van Morrison, Steve Winwood and Brian Kennedy's band. It was produced by Brian and Tony O'Flaherty and was post produced by Dave Collins, the man behind Sting, Ben Harper, The Police, Janet Jackson and Sheryl Crow. With a CD collection that takes up an entire room, Brian refuses to restrict his influences to one genre. Instead, he has been influenced by numerous artists and genres of music from across the globe, including Sam Cook, Bob Marley, The Police, Ray Charles, John Coltrane and Stevie Wonder amongst many others. Brian does not shy away from including political references in his music, reflecting one of his other long-term interests, political writing.

Presented by Jamie Stephens

Produced by Zoe Allwood
Directed by The Sprezz

Starting at the tender age of 3, Ryan's been playing music with an intention and integrity that surpasses that of most seasoned musicians twice his age. He learnt a discipline and work ethic through private lessons he took with longtime teacher and mentor John Sheldon, who's written songs for James Taylor and played guitar with Van Morrison. After a 1-year stint of college and a year of fifteen different day jobs, Hommel and long time musical partner Seth Glier set out to record their first record together in 2008. Glier's The Trouble With People (which Hommel co-produced) was quickly picked up and re-released by NYC-based record label MPress Records. From there, it was year-round touring and into the iTunes Top 100 charts. Currently, Hommel and Glier are touring in support of Glier's most current release - also co-produced by Hommel - The Next Right Thing (MPress, 2010) which debuted on the iTunes Top 100 charts and topped off at #1 on Clear Channel radio stations across the US.

Though still touring constantly, Ryan Hommel is now working on his debut record as a solo artist, to be produced with Grammy-nominee and world-class cellist/composer Dave Eggar. Look for it in late 2011/early 2012.

Blessed with an a-grade classic soul voice that could equally melt candles or blow cladding off walls, Mr Hommel's also a fan of GREAT RECORDS and so consequently can do the business in whatever music environ he finds himself in. Blues, Soul, Rock N Roll, Jazz, Funk: you name it - he nails it. And that's just his voice.. wait til you hear his guitar playing. If there's any justice in this world, you'll be hearing A LOT more from this nice young man in the very near future. Remember, you heard it here first...
