Résumé :
Aaron est un membre respecté de la communauté juive ultra-orthodoxe de Jérusalem. Marié à Rivka, il est le père dévoué de quatre enfants. Cette vie en apparence solide et structurée va être bouleversée le jour où Aaron rencontre Ezri. Emporté et ému par ce bel étudiant de 22 ans, il se détache tout doucement de sa famille et de la vie de la communauté. Bientôt la culpabilité et les pressions exercées par son entourage le rattrapent, le forçant à faire un choix...

Einaym Pkuhot / Eyes Wide Open (2009)
Homosexuality in the Orthodox community is the subject of a very dark and disturbing Israeli film, Eyes Wide Open (Einaym Pkuhot) which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. Aaron Fleishman (Zohar Shtrauss) is a father of 4 who takes over the family kosher butcher shop following the death of his father. Aarons observant world is turned upside down with the arrival of a young Yeshiva student Ezri (Ran Danker). When Aaron and Ezri begin spending time together, Aaron is quickly ostracized within the Orthodox community. Confronted by Rabbi Vaisben (Tzahi Grad), Aaron declares he was dead before meeting Ezri. We see how quickly social control turns violent and ugly in the Orthodox community when Ezri is forced to leave. Eyes Wide Open is set during a dark and wet winter in Jerusalem. Rain and the darkness of night are used as metaphors for the ritual of cleansing and the omnipresent pressure to conform in the Orthodox community.

"Flood" will participate at the Berlin Film Festival
The Israeli movie "Flood", directed by Guy Nativ, will be internationally debuted at the Berlin's film festival, where it will also compete for the "Generations" category. Starred by Ronit Elkabtz, Tzahi Grad and Michael Moshonov, the movie also won the best feature at the Haifa's film festival. The movie tells the story of a young man returning home to his family after years of staying at a special domicile for autistic children.
