Rihanna talks about her new movie 'Battleship', playing the role of tomboy "Raikes" and how she drew inspiration from her own childhood, why she took on the role, getting inspiration from a real life Navy officer, training for the film, working with director Peter Berg

Battleship hits theaters on May 18th, 2012.

Peter Berg ("Hancock") produces and directs "Battleship", an epic action-adventure that unfolds across the seas, in the skies and over land as our planet fights for survival against a superior force. Based on Hasbro's classic naval combat game, "Battleship" stars Taylor Kitsch as Lt. Alex Hopper, a Naval officer assigned to the USS John Paul Jones; Brooklyn Decker as Sam Shane, a physical therapist and Hopper's fiancee; Alexander Skarsgard as Hopper's older brother, Stone, Commanding Officer of the USS Sampson; Rihanna as Petty Officer Raikes, Hopper's crewmate and a weapons specialist on the USS John Paul Jones; and international superstar Liam Neeson as Hopper and Stone's superior (and Sam's father), Admiral Shane.

Berg directs this epic action-adventure also produced by Scott Stuber ("Couples Retreat"), Sarah Aubrey ("The Kingdom"), Brian Goldner and Bennett Schneir of Hasbro (the "Transformers" franchise), along with Duncan Henderson ("Master and Commander").

In honor of The Avengers hitting theaters, this week we've got a Joss Whedon inspired faceoff between his Avenger's heroine Black Widow and the Chosen One, Buffy Summers. Whedon himself was asked who he thought would win if these two went mano y mano and the director picked Buffy to squeak out a win. Considering he is the one who created the character, he may be slightly biased, so let's take a look at the stats so you can decide for yourselves.

Buffy debuted in 1992 in the movie Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The campy horror comedy managed a measly $16.6 million. Black Widow, on the other hand first appeared on screen in 2010's Iron Man 2 which went on to gross $623 million worldwide. With The Avengers already breaking box office records, as far as box office prowess goes, Black Widow wins this round hands down. There's no competition.

Buffy's strength isn't in the film world though, but on the small screen. The series created by Joss Whedon debuted in 1997 and lasted seven seasons. Despite a slow start, the show ditched its monster of the week premise and soon found its rhythm becoming one of the smartest and most entertaining series of all times. So what does Buffy have in her arsenal that could give Black Widow a heaping pile of hurt? For starters, she has supernatural strength, speed and agility. She uses these powers in conjunction with extensive martial arts and weapons training. If Widow was able to land a punch, Buffy also possesses rapid healing that could allow her to get quickly back into the fight. As for weaknesses, Buffy possess very few, except for maybe a certain brooding, soulful vampire. Despite being the Chosen One, she is mortal and can and has been killed. A couple times actually.

Black Widow, aka Natasha Romanoff on the contrary possesses no superhuman abilities, but has been given enhancement that make her body resistant to aging and disease. Like Buffy, these enhancements also help her heal at a faster rate than most humans. Also like Buffy, Widow is a martial arts and weapons expert. Her favorite weapons being bracelets she wears on her wrists that send out electro-static energy blasts known as "Widow's Bite". Another asset Widow has going for her is her cunningness and remarkable ability to get out of any sticky situation.

There's no question that this would be an epic martial arts battle between these two ladies. The question is, could Widow's cunningness be enough to counter Buffy's supernatural powers? Eva Green Talks '300: Battle of Artemisia' Role and we have the details!

MTV News recently caught up with Eva Green who is set to star in the 300 prequel/spin off, 300 battle of Artemisia.... She was asked about her character who is actually based on a woman - not a goddess - who actually lived, and kicked some serious butt.

She said, "Oh yeah, I'm playing Artemisia. She really existed actually....She was commander on a boat, of a whole Armada."

She went on to elaborate on the character by saying, "She's a very ballsy character, she's almost like a man, so that's fun....It's my first action film, it's going to be a challenge, [there will be] lots of training."

Some research on artmesia conducted by MTV news pointed to the fact that Artemisia was indeed pretty awesome... The Persian Queen, who came to power and ruled over Ionia after her husband's death, played a key component in the Battle of Salamis (which has apparently been renamed the "Battle of Artemisia" for the film's purposes) in that she advised Xerxes to launch a land-sea offensive against the Greeks. Although Xerxes made the ill-advised decision to go against her suggestions, he listened to her when she suggested the fleet's retreat after their defeat at Salamis.

Rihanna talks her debut movie role, and how she got into character using music. Hey guys, you're tuned into ClevverMusic. In full 'Battleship' getup, Rihanna sat down to talk about her character Officer Raikes, how she prepped for the role using music, and the navy training she endured.

Rihanna revealed the best part of playing her character, and that she was not the typical girly girl as a child. (Clip 1- 0:06 "the character raikes" -- 0:33 "seeing of me")

It's about time multi-talented Rihanna emerged on the movie scene. RiRi explained that she used music to get into character, with the help of a real- life officer. (clip 2- 0:50 "her name is Jackie" -- 1:18 "in real life")

Nina Dobrev was a show-stopper on the Met Gala red carpet and we have the fashion rewind. The Met Gala is an annual who's who of the style world, and just being invited is quite the honor. Vampire Diaries' star Nina Dobrev didn't simply attend the event -- she completely took over the red carpet in a creation from Donna Karan. The black and gold gown was inspired by a dress worn by Gwyneth Paltrow in "Great Expectation," and featured a gorgeous train. The dress' bead-work pattern was absolutely impeccable and the fit gave the overall look a modern flare, especially when you take a look at the varying size of the straps. To finish off the look, Nina's brown locks were upswept into a low bun and her accessories very minimal, which was a great move, and lets the dress do all the talking. Overall this look is a homerun for Nina and of course for Donna Karan and she is our top pick from the Met Gala in 2012 -- if you have another favorite, let us know by commenting below.
