interview - RUMMELSNUFF in art uber alles
http://www.rummelsnuff.com
RUMMELSNUFF - Derbe Strommusik
Berlin-based muscle man Roger Baptist is Rummelsnuff, a combination of testosterone-laden body building aesthetics, brute maritime romanticism and comic-book-hero: a strange, yet fascinating icon that spawns a steadily growing fan base and has generated quite some buzz in the press. Two years after releasing his debut album, the captain is on the air again with 15 songs of even greater stylistic and instrumental variety than on his first outing. Be it the sad but beautiful shanty ?Salzig schmeckt der Wind?, the synthetic rockabilly sound of ?Donnerbolzen? or the rough electronic song culture of songs like ?Eindruck schinden?, ?Pumper? or ?Winterlied?, Rummelsnuff is happily ignoring all standard genre boundaries while sporting a thoroughly identifiable and unique sound. Basing his music on a Minimal Electro foundation that he effectively garnishes with all sorts of sonic experiments, a healthy dose of weirdness and his trademark hoarse voice, Rummelsnuff is one of the most unique acts in German-language popular music. The pre-album-release digital single ?Freier Fall?, for instance, sounds as if Max Schmeling, Tom Waits, Der Plan and Rammstein have sat together to record a collaborative song. ?Sender Karlshorst? will be broadcasting its raw ?Strom-Musik? on all frequencies from May 14th!
BRAD PITT LIGHT ORCHESTRA
PRESENTED BY TOM MILLETT
BROUGHT TO YOU FROM THE MORGAN HOTEL IN TEMPLE BAR
Hailing from the west of Ireland, The Brad Pitt Light Orchestra has its origins as a group of college friends drawn together from the intertwining worlds of music, theatre, family.... and IT. After parting ways due to emigration and the like, The Brad Pitt Light Orchestra (BPLO) reformed when two members - Ann and David Blake - featured on The Ray D'Arcy Show's album 'Even Better Than The Real Thing Volume 2' with a haunting version of Hole in The Head by The Sugababes. The BPLO went on to produce two successful EPs, 'Fireside Chat' and 'Small Contradictions'.

With an ever-increasing fan base, the BPLO first caught the attention of both Paul McLoone and Alison Curtis of Today FM with their joyful winter single December. Since then, they have recorded two sessions for The McLoone Show while also enjoying strong airplay on other national radio shows - including those of Ryan Tubridy , Ray D'Arcy, Alison Curtis, Jenny Huston, Tom Dunne, Dave Couse, Dan Hegarty and on many Independent local radio stations as well as on BBC Northern Ireland. The BPLO released their eagerly awaited debut LP 'Lowering the Tone' on August 27 2010.

While the three lead vocalists- Blake siblings Ann, David and James- conjure distinct moods, it is the close sibling harmonies that sit at the heart of the BPLO's sound. Built around that glow is the formidable melodic instrumentation of the group and an irrepressible theatricality. The BPLO's music evokes the grandeur of Arcade Fire, the warmth of Crosby Stills & Nash, the wistfulness of Belle & Sebastian, the melodic sensibility of the Divine Comedy and a whiff of a Tom Waits carnival. Arresting musicality coupled with a dark, wry wit, they produce an unmissable vibrant, life-affirming, live experience. Regular performers at Irish festivals like the Electric Picnic and Flatlake, the BPLO comfortably traverse the literary, theatrical and music worlds.

Ann Blake- Vocals
David Blake- Vocals, Electric Guitar, Acoustic Guitar
James Blake- Vocals, Acoustic Guitar
Stephen Childs- Violin, Viola
Tom Howley- Keyboards
Brian O'Grady- Double Bass, Electric Bass
Jamie O'Neill- Percussion, Mandolin
Nick Carswell- Acoustic Guitar, Vocals, Clarinet, Fisher Price items
Boris Hunka and Diane Daly- Vibes and Violin respectively

The BPLO's influences include Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits, Goran Bregovic, Keith Jarrett, Pink Floyd, David Bowie, John Banville, John McGahern, Neil Hannon, Tom Zé, Elvis Costello, Paul Durcan, The Frames, The Strokes and Sufjan Stevens. This list of fine artists from varying talent streams may offer an explanation, for some, for the eclectic style of music produced by The Brad Pitt Light Orchestra.

TEXAS TEA
PRESENTED BY PAUL
BROUGHT TO YOU BY Race Cafe - The Espresso Bar www.racecafeonline.com.au

Arriving on the Brisbane scene in 2005, Texas Tea
have been impressing audiences and industry alike
with their mix of indie-folk and country-soul. Now, with
their third album on the horizon, this two-piece look
to become the Australian darlings of alt-country.
After releasing their debut album, Take A Sip, in
2006, Texas Tea (AKA Kate Jacobson and Benjamin
Dougherty) quickly became one of Brisbane's
favourite bands and took out top spot in 4ZZZfm's
Hot 100 two years in a row. Their second long-player,
The Junkship Recordings, was released in late-2008
and was met with widespread critical acclaim. The
album was particularly applauded for its profound
and forlorn lyrical content and the sublime vocal
talents of both Kate and Ben.

While their recordings are applauded and admired,
where Texas Tea really come alive is onstage, where
their striking blend of instrumentation and powerful
performances will captivate audiences young and
old. Their unique blend of indie, country and soul
can transport the audience to a sad and sombre
landscape before just as quickly whipping them into
a barnyard style ho-down.
Texas Tea have played all over Australia and have
also toured quite frequently to Europe, where they
have a very strong fan base, particularly in the
northern regions of France. The band have also
shared the stage with the likes of Ben Kweller
(USA), Cold War Kids (USA), Iron and Wine (USA),
Justin Townes Earle (USA), Charlie Parr (USA),
The Handsome Family (USA), The Mountain Goats
(USA), Mick Thomas (Weddings, Parties, Anything),
The Darling Downs (Kim Salmon and Ron Peno),
The Devastations and many other fine acts.

'... whereas pale imitators might hint at the sick, sad,
demented world that they're writing about, Texas
Tea give that world all the vivid quality of Harry Dean
Stanton in Paris, Texas, or a sociopath loitering in
the background of a David Lynch film.'
BEAT MAGAZINE
'Jacobson and Dougherty's voices entwine like latenight
cigarette smoke, somewhere out on the ledge
with fellow travellers such as Leonard Cohen and
Tom Waits.'
THE COURIER MAIL
'Kate Jacobson is the closest thing Fortitude Valley
will get to Gillian Welch'
'Brisbane's King and Queen of country'
'Legends in the making'
'Stupidly brilliant (really!)'
TIME OFF MAGAZINE
'One of Oz's finest roots releases of the year.'
RAVE MAGAZINE
'Quite possibly the finest local roots album of the
year.'

PRESENTED BY COLBY WRIGHT

Jeremy's What It Comes Down To E.P. is the first attempt of this North Carolina native to compile his descriptive and emotive songwriting into one place.
Drawing his influences from the news headlines, literary references and personal experiences traveling around the country as a theatre actor, Jeremy writes with such a vivid imagery almost making the listener believe they are right there with him. Jennifer Layton of Indie-Music.com writes, "I fell in love with Jeremy Aggers...any folk fan would swoon."
Indeed, while Jeremy may just be starting he's no beginner at the art of entertaining and telling a good story.

It's clear that singer/songwriter Jeremy Aggers is a captivating performer in the most unusual sort of way.
He has no bravado and doesn't demand attention. He doesn't dance around or bang on his guitar. He simply
performs. And through the power of his calm presence, and by the strength of his music, rooms quiet, heads turn, and people listen.
- Adrian Varnum Encore Weekly

Slow-burning folk rock from Atlanta that sometimes sounds like Tom Waits, if his voice cleared up. Other
times, it sounds rather rootsier. Either way, Aggers is a talent to watch.
- Wilmington Star-News

[What It Comes Down To] is a great debut...It showcases thoughtful and blindsiding lyrical prowess, clean
guitars and a voice that exudes so much power with so little effort.
