The Killers' Saxophonist Commits Suicide

Sad news for fans of The Killers. Hey guys, welcome back to ClevverMusic. Saxophonist Tommy Marth, who was featured on The Killers 2006 release 'Sams Town' and 2008's 'Day and Age', committed suicide earlier this week at his Las Vegas home. He was 33 years old.

The coroner announced today that he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Marth played saxophone on live tours with the Killers between 2008 and 2010 and had been found dead on Monday.

On Tuesday, The Killers tweeted the following: "Last night we lost our friend Thomas Marth. Our prayers are with his family. There's a light missing in Las Vegas tonight. Travel well, Tommy,"

Though not a permanent member of the band, Marth was a key factor in the band's evolution from indie pop group to mainstream success. The Killers had taken a hiatus after touring, but have been working on a new album that should be out by the end of the year.

Planet of the Apes sequel coming our way!

According to the Hollywood reporter, at CinemaCon on Thursday, Fox Filmed Entertainment co-chairmen/CEOs Tom Rothman and Jim Gianopulos announced the studio will make a sequel to its 2011 hit Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

Also unveiled at cinemacon was Ang Lee's 3D epic adventure Life of Pi which apparently stole the show. The footage from Pi was the first glimpse of the Fox 2000 film, which opens Dec. 21. For years, there's been a furious debate over whether it is possible to translate Yann Martel's best-selling 2001 novel -- to the big screen and now its been done, and people got a glimpse!

Other footage shown included this summer's Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, Neighborhood Watch, Ice Age: Continental Drift and Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days. Fall releases teased included Viola Davis-Maggie Gyllenhaal drama Won't Back Down, Taken 2, starring Liam Neeson, and Of Men and Mavericks, a surfing drama starring Gerard Butler.

Superheros land in New York
Superheroes take over Madame Tussauds.

Captain American and Thor were added to the wax attraction's collection of Marvel characters.

Tussaud manager Bret Pidgeon explained the new interactive experience.

SOUNDBITE: Bret Pidgeon, general manager of Madame Tussauds, saying:

"Here at Madame Tussauds New York, the Marvel superheroes experience, you're going to be able to get up close and personal to the superheroes like you've never had before. So, we've just launched a new Captain America and Thor figure, where you can get right up next to them, have a photo taken with them and really interact with them. And then you get to see a 4D film that features those actors. It's going to be really exciting."

The heroes are exact replicas of actors Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth, who play Thor and Captain America in the new Avengers movie.

Sculptors replicated the heroes right down to their stance.

SOUNDBITE: Bret Pidgeon, general manager of Madame Tussauds, saying:

"The costume for Captain America was donated from Marvel, so it's really great to partner with them in this whole program because it really makes it authentic for people to come and get that experience."

Putting the cherry on top of the whole experience is a new interactive 4D film that allows vistors to step into the action.

Pint-sized fan Caden was excited to give his review.

Peter Jackson responds to the hobbit criticism and we have the details!

We reported last week that the footage of the hobbit revealed at cinemacon was not taken in too well by audiences. The reason? Well peter jacksons revolutionary 48 frames per second as opposed to the 24 frames per second that we are used to. Many claimed the flick looked like a quote, soap opera. Not exactly the feedback Jackson wanted..but he has responded...

He said, "It does take you a while to get used to...Ten minutes is sort of marginal, it probably needed a little bit more. Another thing that I think is a factor is it's different to look at a bunch of clips and some were fast-cutting, montage-style clips. This is different experience than watching a character and story unfold."

Jackson also explained the footage presented at Cinemacon would look different once it goes through the post-production process. He also added that "People haven't experienced it yet in the way it should be experienced."

Despite the negative feedback, studio executives and producers at Cinemacon found many saying that 48 fps represents the wave of the future....so in other words we better get used to it people!

The hobbit releases December 14 2012, so I guess we will just have to wait and see if Jackson is good on his word! So what do you guys think? 'Riddick' Sequel Coming in 2013 and More Movies are Planned, details coming your way!

Actor, producer, director, writer and muscle man Vin Diesel likes to reach out to his fans via Facebook -- Infact, he has one of the TOP fb fan pages, ever...perhaps it's the plethora of photoshopped images of himself, like this one (show an aggressive one from page), but regardless, he took to his fb page with some interesting info!

The studio said the earliest they could release the new "Riddick" is in January... was hoping for 2012... but, it's on the horizon.
P.s. I think they are liking what they are seeing... haha, cause they asked when both Underverse and Furya would be ready to make and release... haha... now that's a ways in the future but it is exciting.

Does this mean a January 2013 release date? Most likely NOT, but it gives us a guestimate as to when a release will occur...

Also taken from this update is the hint at two possible further sequels: Underverse (named after some alternate dimension in the Chronicles universe where death doesn't exist) and Furya (named after the race of warriors from which Riddick is descended).

Former Disney starlets have taken over the X-Factor. According to confirmed reports from E News, pop-megastar Britney Spears and break-out music star Demi Lovato are apparently confirmed to sign on Simon Cowell's singing competition show. According to E, both singers have offers in place and have agreed to the terms, HOWEVER I should point out that to our knowledge, neither of the stars have actually signed on the dotted line yet. That said, this confirmation is still based somewhat on speculation. If Demi and Britney do choose to sit in on the X-Factor judging panel, they will fill spaces left empty by Paula Abdul and Nicole Sherzinger. Outside media sources maintain that other singers, including Miley Cyrus and Gwen Stefani, are still in consideration for the judging gigs, as well. So what do you all think of the latest in X-Factor news? IF Britney Spears does take the gig -- she'll receive a reportedly 15-million dollar paycheck. No word on what Demi would earn as of yet. Lady Gaga just started her 'Born This Way Ball' tour and it looks like her Little Monsters will remain her first love. Hey guys, you're watching ClevverMusic. According to US Weekly, Lady Gaga and Vampire Diaries' Taylor Kinney have split, for the time being.

Since 26-year-old Gaga will be on the road for at least a year touring, it's reportedly taken it's toll on her love life. I guess the cat Gaga gifted 30-year-old Kinney wasn't enough to fill the void while she is away touring the world. Long distance is no doubt tough, especially for Mother Monster, who is allegedly recording her next album while on the road doing 110 shows.

While it seems like Gaga will be all work and no play, we're sure she'll find some time to enjoy the 'Ball' while touring the world. The rumors have been escalating for months, but new reports indicate Britney and Demi are ON for Season 2 of 'The X Factor'! Hey guys, welcome back to ClevverMusic. E! News reports that pop princess Britney Spears and pop darling Demi Lovato have agreed to join Simon Cowell's 'X Factor' as judges.

Both pop divas have allegedly agreed to the terms of their individual offers, they just need to sign on the dotted line. Looks like Simon Cowell will have two of the industry's most popular hit maker's right next to him on the judge's panel.

It's no surprise that Britney has agreed to her terms, the rumors have been circulating for weeks now. The 30-year-old will reportedly rake in $15 million for a one-year contract to judge the show. We love that Brit has taken control of her life again and is set now for TV domination.

Demi, on the other hand is a more surprising candidate, as the rumors of her joining the show popped up last week. No details about what this young star will be making during her time on 'X Factor,' but we can't wait to hear Demi give her honest advice to peer hopefuls on the show.
