THE BLACK ATLANTIC is an acoustic indie band from the Netherlands created by songwriter and vocalist Geert van der Velde, former a frontman of legendary hard-core band called Shai Hulud. After the departure of Shai Hulud, he created the Black Atlantic.
The first EP of the band called 'Send This Home' was a musical love letter to his ex-girlfriend Megan. As it turned out, the material was enchanted not only the fans but also the media - after three years of that Geert and Megan are happily married, and she became a member of the Black Atlantic which unfortunately we have not had the opportunity to meet her, because she looked after their son in home.
After two years in an international tour without a full-length album, the band went to New York as part of the project 'In A Cabin With" record their debut album in a wooden cottage in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains.
The album was released digitally in August 2009 and was able to download for free. Since that time, "Reverence for Fallen Trees" has been downloaded over 60 000 times, and their first release on CD and vinyl was sold out beforeend
of the the year.
The Black Atlanctic promoted their release this year at festivals Eurosonic (NL), SXSW (USA), NXNE (CAN), two
routes in North America. In Poland, they played in Warsaw (Eufemia Club) and in Pozna? (KontenerART).

Po dwóch latach w mi?dzynarodowej trasie koncertowej bez pe?nometra?owego albumu, zespó? uda? si? do stanu Nowy Jork by w ramach projektu 'In A Cabin With" nagra? swój debiutancki album w drewnianej chacie w sercu gór Adirondack. P?yta zosta?a wydana cyfrowo w sierpniu 2009 do pobierania ca?kowicie za darmo.
