Cinéma : critiques de SOMEWHERE et de THE GREEN HORNET
La Sélection de la Semaine - Émission du 02/01/2011 (#C049)

Toute l'équipe de la Sélection et de Cinémotif.fr vous adresse ses meilleurs voeux pour l'année 2011 !

Cette semaine, nous avons vu pour vous et aimé "Somewhere" de Sofia Coppola. Dans le luxueux hôtel Château Marmont sur Sunset Blvd., un acteur paumé (Stephen Dorff) tourne en rond, s'envoie quelques filles, passe plusieurs heures coincé dans un moule en plâtre pour les besoins des effets spéciaux du film qu'il tourne... Un seul être l'arrache temporairement à cette perdition : sa fille Cleo (Elle Fanning).
Comme à son habitude ("Virgin Suicides", "Lost in Translation", "Marie-Antoinette"), Sofia Coppola filme le vide et l'absence. Il en sort un long-métrage simple et émouvant, nourri des propres expériences familiales de la réalisatrice.

Nous avons également sélectionné The "Green Hornet" de Michel Gondry, avec Seth Rogen et Cameron Diaz. L'héritier d'un magnat de la presse se conduit en véritable ado attardé jusqu'au décès de son père. Poussé à l'action par son chauffeur Kato, il va se transformer en "Frelon Vert", un super-héros aux méthodes quelques peu orthodoxes...
Le réalisateur français s'écarte temporairement de son style "bricolage" ("La Science des rêves", "Soyez sympas rembobinez") pour signer un blockbuster hollywoodien des plus plaisants et drôles, même si le scénario n'est pas sans souffrir de quelques lacunes. The Green Hornet se rattrape à nos yeux grâce à la qualité de la mise en scène, notamment grâce à une exploitation tout à fait pertinente de la 3D.

Sundance Film Festival gets underway
The 2011 Sundance Film Festival opened this week with the new Beastie Boys film, Fight For Your Right Revisited.
The short film, directed by Adam Yauch, is a follow-up to their classic music video Fight For Your Right (To Party), and stars Seth Rogen, Elijah Wood and Danny McBride as the Beastie Boys themselves, with cameos from Will Ferrell, John C. Reilly and Jack Black.
Speaking from the red carpet, Elijah Wood said the all-star cast was a massive draw: "Reilly, Will Ferrell, Seth Rogen - what an absolute dream to work on a Beastie Boy's video. I am a huge, huge fan. To work with those comedians, it was an awesome opportunity," he said.
Police drama The Guard, starring Brendan Gleeson and Don Cheadle, also premiered on opening night.
Directed by first time Irish filmmaker John Michael McDonagh, The Guard tells the story of a village cop who faces off with an FBI agent as he chases down an international drug-smuggling ring.
Don Cheadle said: "I think the difference between small movies and the big movies is that you are here for the love of the game. It is not about the bells and whistles, you are here because you really want to do the work."
Meanwhile, rapper Snoop Dogg added a hip-hop flavour to the Film Festival's opening night, performing on the main street.
Sundance, which takes place in the ski resort town of Park City in Utah, celebrates independent filmmaking and ends on January 30.

Hello fellow Movie lovers, I'm Chelsea Cannell, thanks for tuning in to Clevver Movies! Paramount Pictures just released their lineup for 2011 so let's take a look at what we can look forward to in the coming months! First Up, It's the Ashton Kutcher Natalie Portman romantic Comedy "No strings attached." The Movie was released on January 21st, grabbing the top spot its opening weekend and should perform nicely through Valentine's Day Next up, for all of you who've come down with the Bieber Fever, Look for the Justin Bieber Documentary "Never Say Never" to hit theaters on February 11th. Then, paramount and Nickelodeon team up to bring you the Gore Verbinski film starring Johnny Depp, Isla Fisher, and Abigail Breslin in "Rango." Their animated adventure will be released on March 4th. And If you're like me, you've been waiting for this one. Thor is just around the corner making its big screen debut on May 6th. The Kenneth Branaugh Marvel Movie stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman and Anthony Hopkins. But I'm pretty sure I don't need to sell you on this one. If you liked the first one, you're probably already excited about the 2nd one. Coming out on May 26th, Kung Fu Panda 2 has no shortage of celeb names attached: Jack Black, Angelina Jolie, Dustin Hoffman, Jackie Chan, Seth Rogen, Lucy Liu, Jean- Claude Van Damme, and Victor Garber. Then on June 10th we'll finally get to see what JJ Abrams Super 8 is all about. Starring Gabriel Basso, Kyle Chandler and Elle Fanning- this one is definitely on our list. Coming out on July 1st -- Get ready for another helping of those Transformers with Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington Whitely, John Malkovich, Patrick Dempsey and Josh Duhamel teaming up for "Dark of the Moon." July 22nd is the day you'll finally be able to see "Captain America: The First Avenger" starring Chris Evans, Tommy Lee Jones, and Stanley Tucci. Next, it may be a remake but hopefully it won't fall victim to the curse. The 80's Super hit Footloose will get it's big screen release on October 14th, with Julianne Huff, Andy Macdowell and Dennis Quaid. Then on October 21st - Paranormal Activity is making its way back to the big screen with the studio's third installment of the haunted franchise. Coming out on November 4th, the Shrek Spinoff Puss in Boots starring Antonio Banderas, Salma Hayek, Zach Galifiankis, and Billy bob Thornton Will finally hit theaters. On December 16th gear up for another Mission impossible as Tom Cruise and Jeremy Renner share the screen in Ghost Protocol. AND finally on December 23rd look out for The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn -- the Steven Spielburg film features the voices of Daniel Craig, Simon Pegg and Andy Serkis.
