Stay right there, Clevver Movies has the story! Hey guys, Im Tatiana Diana with the latest on "The Host." You may not yet heard of "The Host," but judging by the huge acquisition made by Open Road, chances are, the movie will be a big deal. Apparently Open Road wasn't the only one banking on this novel turned movie because we hear that there were atleast 3 other distributers fighting for this deal...a reported 7 figure deal to be exact! This was Open Roads second major acquisition, the first being "killer elite" starring Clive Owen "The Host" is an adaptation of the Twilight Saga author, Stephenie Meyer's novel where Saoirse Ronan stars as Melanie Stryder who must fight the alien species called "Soul." The flick is directed by Andrew Niccols who you may know from Gattaca. Do you think The Host could be as huge as the Twilight Series? Hi friends, welcome back to ClevverTV. I'm Dana Ward in the studio today with yet another casting update on Snow White. The latest is that Lovely Bones actress Saoirse Ronan is in talks to play the fair-faced princess in the Brothers Grimm version. As a reminder, you might remember us saying recently that there are not one but two different Snow White movies in the works-one will star Kristen Stewart as SW, and the other one is princess-less! If Saiorse lands the role, she'll play opposite Armie Hammer, who was just cast as her prince earlier this week. And, according to movie news website Deadline.com, Julia Roberts will also play the Evil Queen. Pretty good cast if you ask us! ClevverTV has scoop on which Hollywood actress will star in "The Host." Keep it here for the story. Joslyn Davis here in Hollywood -- hello Twi-hards, you're back at ClevverTV. Today we have brand new details on a new movie project from the writer of the Twilight Saga, Stephenie Meyer. Fans of the author will be glad to know that the casting process for the film version of Meyer's book "The Host" is in full-force, and a highly acclaimed young actress is taking the lead. According to Deadline, Saoirse Ronan will play the dual role of Melanie and Wanderer in the movie. The movie, like the book, will follow the story of Melanie Stryder, a human character who is one of the last to avoid being taken captive by aliens called Souls. The Souls take over human bodies, erasing their personalities. Ultimately Melanie is taken over by a soul called Wanderer. Wanderer is so taken by Melanie's memories that it becomes impossible to fully invade her body. That said, Saoirse will play both characters -- Melanie and Wanderer -- as they locate a large group of humans hiding out underground from the Souls. Twi-hards are likely looking forward to another movie from Stephanie and hearing that an actress with the performance level of Saoirse is very good news. According to the Hollywood Reporter, The Twilight Saga author's book 'The Host' will see its theater release on March 29th, 2013. This is the first bit of info we've gotten on the upcoming project in quite some time. As of now the only other detail set in stone is the casting of Saoirse Ronan in the role of Melanie/Wanderer. Shooting on 'The Host' is expected to commence in February of 2012. That said, casting for the rest of major roles will likely start heating up over the next few months. Hey guys, I'm Joslyn Davis with the last sccop straight from the casting front for Stephanie Meyer's book-turned-movie "The Host." Entertainment Weekly broke news that Max Irons will be joining Saoirse Ronan and Jake Abel in the upcoming project, in which he's set to play Jared. The highly anticipated project is expected to commence shooting in February of 2012, with a release date marked down for March of 2013. That said, casting news for this movie is likely pick up even more over the next few weeks. Jake's character Jared is in love with Melanie, the primary character in the book. The big twist here is that Melanie's body is inhabited by an alien parasite named Wanderer, who has a crush on Ian -- so yes, in true Stephanie Meyer form -- things are going to be seriously complicated. The fifth and final Twilight film may be scheduled to release next November, but Stephenie Meyer isn't retiring any time soon! Her best-selling 2008 science-fiction novel The Host ? her only non-Twilight work to date ? is in the process of being turned into a film! The release is already set for March 29 of 2013 so you can be sure that we will be having lots of HOST news coming at you until then. The first little tidbit of news comes from the casting couch! According to Entertainment Weekly, the role of Jared Howe will be played by 26-year-old actor Max Irons. For those of you not familiar with that name just yet, Max is the son of Oscar-winning actor Jeremy Irons, who was last seen in this year's Red Riding Hood. Other casting couch news: We also have learned that Saoirse Ronan is starring and Jake Abel is in talks to play Ian, but nothing confirmed yet As of now, not too many details have been revealed, besides the news of Max, and the film will begin shooting in February in Louisiana...so as we get more info we will be sure to keep you guys posted! Melanie Stryder, one of the last humans putting up a fight against an alien species called Souls. These parasites invade human bodies, fuse to each person's consciousness and systematically erase their personalities. Melanie is captured by the aliens and implanted by a Soul called Wanderer, something of a legend because of all of the "hosts" she has attached to on numerous planets. Wanderer's goal is to get Melanie to give up the remaining pockets of humans, but instead the alien finds Melanie to be unique in her unwillingness to surrender her consciousness. Wanderer is so overwhelmed by Melanie's memories and feelings, the alien is driven to reconnect with Melanie's old life.
