American Idol 2009 - Elimination News Hi guys! Im Dana Ward at Clevver TV and your 2009 American Idol update is now. Reality TV just wouldnt be the same without American Idol. The Fox favorite has dominated the ratings throughout its 7 seasons. And the big difference with this years 8th round is the addition of a new judge. Singer-songwriter Kara DioGuardi joined the panel along with Idol-classics Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson. Right now, America is helping to narrow down the top 36 contestants, and host Ryan Seacrest announced the show has already received a record-breaking number of contestant votes this round. The new Idol rules for 2009 are that the guy and the girl with the highest number of votes move on to the Final 12. Also making it to the next round is the the person receiving the next most votes from America. Going from 36 to 12, this is a humongous drop, with only 3 hopefuls out of 9 moving on to the next round each week. Now the numbers do actually add up because theres a show twist: its called The Wild Card. Apparently, there will be a fourth round of semifinals. Rumors are circulating as to what this final hurrah is going to mean. In fact, some people are saying that fan-selected eliminated contestants from the Top 36 will be returning for another performance. Others are stating that it will be the judges to select the 9-singer lineup and then its up to America to decide which 3 move on. As for now, its all speculation because A-I execs are keeping quiet about the Wild Card addition. That being said, maybe the crazy-emotion-packed Tatiana will be back or that the A-I logo-kissing character Nick aka Normal Gentle will get another chance. Judge Simon Cowell spoke out that he thinks once the Idol Final 12 is assembled, there will be more personality, more diversity and more entertainment than ever before. Some judge favorites include fire red-headed Alison and the smirky Danny. And some fan favorites include the rockin Adam and the soulful Alexis. Now we wanna know, who is your favorite American Idol? Yesterday we reported that Jennifer Lopez was still on the fence about coming back for season 11, and that producers are even considering Shakira and Shania Twain as her possible replacements! But now we've gotten confirmation on who IS returning--and it's Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler. The Hollywood Reporter says the two guys have signed their contracts already and are ready to join filming as the audition process gets underway. But Jen is waiting til the last minute to make a decision. Sources say Randy is adamant about keeping his new team together after the success of last season. As we reported yesterday, it really comes down to money. Lopez was paid $12 million for last season alone, and only signed a one-year deal, as opposed to Tyler's 20year deal. Apparently she wants her paycheck upped if she's going to sign back on. And based on what the show has saved since not having to pay Simon Cowell anymore, we say give her what she wants! The show was a sinking ship before JLo and Steven signed on, and let's me honest, they kinda need her! Whast do you guys think? Should Idol pay up to get Jennifer back on board? Michael Jackson Fans Want Tribute Concert Canceled

As you know the Michael Jackson Forever tribute concert is scheduled for Ocotbe 8th in Wales. But now a group of die hard MJ fans are trying to get it canceled! According to Reuters, fan clubs across the world have banded together to write an open letter to the event organizers, asking them to cancel the show, saying it's quote doomed to fail. The page on Facebook is called Fans Against the Michael Forever Tribute, and they say, "From the timing of this tribute, in the middle of Dr. Murray's trial, to the ticketing prices, to the obscurity over what charities will be receiving the donation, to the no-guarantee policy of performers, the addition of Gene Simmons and dishonouring, thus tarnishing Michael Jackson's legacy was simply the last straw. Now Gene Simmons has since been dropped from the lineup for saying in an interview with a magazine last year that he believed Michael had molested children during his lifetime. So it seems these fans are taking the same stance as Jermaine and Randy Jackson, who are both also against the show going on. So who do you side with? Well, is there trouble in paradise already for the Idol judges? Well,according to Jennifer Lopez, the panel members aren't seeing eye to eye! She spoke with Ryan Seacrest on his radio show and said she got into a fight with Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler over one of the auditioners this season. She told Ryan, I got really really upset, explaining that a girl came in and sang really well, and she was about to vote her through when Steven asked for her to sing another song. After she did, Jackson and Tyler quickly passed on her, and J.Lo says she felt like she was being punked! She went on to tell Ryan that she told producers they had to show this in the upcoming season so that people would see where she was coming from. She said she felt her blood boiling for the first time while on the show. Sounds intense!! But this definitely gets us excited for the season! We love when the judges disagree! It makes it a little boring when they all start agreeing with each other. So look forward to hopefully seeing this spicy moment and many more when Idol returns. So as we inch closer and closer to this very much anticipated AI season, fans and critics can't help but wonder what will be the audience response to all of the show changes. Specifically, the new pro panel. I mean, even though it's pretty known that the contestants are on the chopping block, it seems that the new judges, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler, are also being judged on their abilities. It's being said that Tyler will showcase "accidental humor" similar to Paula Abdul's old role, J-Lo will break out the high-fashion and according to Randy Jackson, we'll see more hair on the dawg, QUOTE 'A little less yo's, a little more 'no's.' But keep in mind that there's a whole lot more fresh meat to be had, in the form of contestants. Remember that the minimum Idol age got lowered to 15, and there will be a bit more pressure for contestants this season. According to reports, singers will perform on-stage in the Las Vegas show Cirque du Soleil in order to narrow the playing field to 20 competitors. Keep in mind that these are just a few of the changes dished straight from the American Idol camp and there's no telling what else might be in-store for this 10th season. We've got the deets right now. Welcome back to ClevverTV. Hi everyone, I'm Dana Ward at our studio with an American Idol season premiere recap. So the general sentiment is ALL GOOD surrounding the AI changes that have been hyped up for months. Most show fans said they loved the addition of Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler to the old pro Randy Jackson and host Ryan Seacrest. In fact, I gotta ask: did you guys catch the ClevverTV news segments in the American Idol intro? We sure hope so because we are so uber excited about it! But bringing it back to the season 10 debut and its reported 26.1-million viewers, of course, there was a lot of good, bad and ugly when it came to the auditioning singers, and the standout in my mind is still that dude who sang Miley Cyrus' Party in the USA. There were a lot of younger contestants featured, prob to keep this episode fresh because the whole lowering the age limit to 15 was a major change from previous seasons. Overall, we're giving American Idol a high five for its strong debut -- are you in on this one? It was Modern Songs night last night on American Idol! Hey guys, welcome back to ClevverMusic. Now for the most part, the top 7 on Idol put on impressive performances, with Joshua Ledet even getting a standing ovation for his rendition of Bruno Mars' "Runaway Baby"
Now, since all the song choices had to be songs from the last three years, perhaps it was the familiarity that borught out the performers best.... for example Elise Testone's take on Lady Gaga's "You and I" that had Randy Jackson claiming she was back in the game!
Other standout performances include Jessica Sanchez's wow-worthy performance of Jazmine Sullivan's "Stuttering"....
Yeah, amazing voice, only 16 years old!
And definitely gotta praise Skylar Laine's country crooning on Kellie Pickler's "Didn't You Know How Much I Loved You"
As a personal fan of Eminem and Rihanna's "Love the Way You Lie" - I couldnt help but get excited to see one of the perfomers take on a fave of mine, and Colton Dixon did just that.
But not EVERYONE got love from the judges. Phillip Phillips did a rendition of Maroon 5's "Give a Little More"....
And maybe he should have given a little more, as JLo called it a bit underwhelming.
Then there's Hollie Cavanagh whose take on Pink's song "Perfect" well, wasn't perfect.
