It's been an interesting week for Call of Duty fans. First we hear that Black Ops 2 was leaked and is in production, then just yesterday new DLC dropped for Modern Warfare 3.
.
Hey gamers, Joshua Ovenshire here for Clevver Games. But instead of concentrating on Call of Duty present or future, let's look at the Call of Duty that never was. Let's go back to 2007 as I present to you Devil's Brigade. While Activision was working on Modern Warfare they had a plan B, just in case fans didn't take to a war game set in present day conflict.
.
Devil's Brigade was going to be a third person shooter, compared to the franchise's success in first person shooters, and take place during World War 2. And strategy and tactic was going to be a big tool in this game. Not just a run and gun shooter. What's even cooler about this game, is that it was based on a real group of elite American and Canadian soldiers who performed almost superhuman feats. For example, the real Devil's Brigade had scaled down a mountain with 50 pounds of equipment and weapons to defeat a camp of Germans below. And if that's not bad ass enough for you, they left notes on the helmets of the dead saying, "the worst is yet to come". How BAMF is that!?! But because Modern Warfare was such a hit, they continued to move forward in that direction, canning Devil's Brigade just before it went through its last green light. And too be honest, I'm a little disappointed.
.
But how bout you guys, is this a game you would have rather played? 5 years later do you think they should try something new and finally release it?
