PRESENTED BY JON RAY

Aaron Distler - Drums
Ben Elkins -- Vocals, Keys, Guitar
DJ Murphy -- Bass, Vocals

If there were one word to describe the Nashville-based trio, Heypenny, simply put it would be persistent.

The band's new full length, A Jillion Kicks is an album three years in the making. It has seen a handful of producers and was originally recorded at the legendary House of David Studios in Nashville, TN as well as a studio in London... but all of the pieces weren't fitting as the energy and essence of Heypenny wasn't coming across in the recordings. Ultimately the band went with their gut and scrapped it all.

After a successful Kickstarter campaign?where the band's fans funded the record?Heypenny completely re-tracked everything with close friend/musician/producer Charles Allison at his Spanner Sound studio in Chattanooga, TN. It was a barnstormer of a session, taking what had taken two years to track and redoing it in only 5 days. The band then enlisted the talented mixing engineer Craig Alvin (Colourmusic, the Features, Hanson) to put the finishing touches on the album.

Thirteen blistering indie-pop tunes later, A Jillion Kicks was born. The album features over 15 guest performances from other Nashville based musicians including Byron House (Robert Plant, Nickel Creek), Natalie Prass, Mikky Ekko and many more.

That energy captured on A Jillion Kicks was harnessed from a tireless effort to deliver big on their live show. Within the past 2 years, they've crafted an unforgettable experience that's seen them open for pop superstar Ke$ha, playing for 2000+ at the Florida Music Festival, playing Bonnaroo in 2009 and headlining Next Big Nashville for a capacity crowd. The band has honed and perfected their craft, rapidly building their profile and fanbase, inking them as a must see live show.

TUNE IN AGAIN SOON FOR MORE FROM BALCONYTV AUSTIN!!!
JINX
http://www.balconyytv.com
PRESENTED BY PAULINE FREEMAN
Jinx is a new artist in the BLUE-COUNTRY-ROCK genre whose songs will groove, move and soothe you down the road. It is uncommon to find an artist who can draw from so many TRADITIONAL styles, and yet effortlessly combine them into wonderfully NEW SOULFUL songs. It is this talent that makes Jinx an emerging force with his music. Jinx draws from a range of emotions in crafting his songs, and they sound fresh, yet also seem instantly familiar. "I have always loved music and I really connect with the feel of BLUES, COUNTRY, ROCK, BLUEGRASS and R&B". It took him many years of studying these styles to become fluent in their writing.

In the meantime Jinx manned the guitar as a SIDEMAN for many musical acts and he took sojourns into blues rock, punk, brit-pop, country and cover bands. "I had a great time but in the end I had to create my own SONGS AND STORIES and be true to the music", Jinx says.

His new CD "REVOLUTION OF ONE" contains songs about a range of emotions; love, loss, partying, travelling, loneliness, and even death. "Essentially they are about the road of life, and EVERYONE has felt the emotions that connect with you in these songs" he says.

Jinx uses a wide array of guitars to present his songs. He has a traditional steel-string MARTIN acoustic for part of the show, but also wields several RESONATOR guitars for slide and finger-picking. A "resonator" guitar is a guitar that has a CHROME resonator ring (somewhat resembling a pie plate) embedded in the body for a special blues or bluegrass sound. A beautiful SUNBURST Dobro is new, but some of his other guitars are 40, 55 and even 75 years old. "My 1929 NATIONAL sounds so authentic it's hard to put down" Jinx admits. He creates other worldly SOUNDSCAPES on a nylon string FLAMENCO guitar, an acoustic 12 string, and at one point teases the past out of a SOLID CHROME Dobro guitar. Amazingly adept at playing the authentic styles of these guitars, he also jumps categories and utilizes them in modern song.

Jinx grew up in SAN DIEGO, California which has also produced top rootsy talents like JIM CROCE, THE BEAT FARMERS, EDDIE VEDDER and NICKEL CREEK.

JINX can be SEEN regularly in Los Angeles, San Diego, Santa Barbara, or on many of his road trips through the Western U.S.

PRESENTED BY HADY MAWAJDEH

Fire In The Kitchen started when a group of young individuals decided they wanted to be kick-ass. In striving for this goal, they formed Fire In The Kitchen with lead man and wavy hair enthusiast, Aaron Blackerby, a funkay bass player, Greg Capariss, Dan Auerbach's illegitimate son, Sam Ogden and Landis Chisenhall on the drums (some say he uses Thor's old hammer).

When they sat down one night after a show to discuss what type of genre they thought they fell in, too many adjectives started to come out that they eventually said "Let's Rock!" Sometimes the FITKBand has been known to break out into jazzy freestyles but, bring it all back together with a headbanging medley. One thing is for certain...they will pour their heart and soul into every show that they have.

With influences ranging from Ryan Bingham, Ryan Adams, Bob Schneider, The Black Keys, Vampire Weekend, Nickel Creek and Jay-Z they have formed a sound that at the end of the night is going to get your feet moving.

Currently you can find them playing all around the live music capitol of the world, Austin, TX as they are in the midst of recording their debut album due out in the Summer of 2012.

Filmed with uncommon access, HOW TO GROW A BAND explores the tensions between individual talents and group identity, art and commerce, innocence and wisdom in documenting the genesis of the Punch Brothers Band. 26 year-old Chris Thile arrives at a crossroads when his platinum-selling bluegrass band, Nickel Creek, goes on "indefinite hiatus". But Thile, a perfectionist prodigy who's defied expectations since he learned the mandolin at age five, has a plan to recruit some of the nation's best young musicians to challenge the very foundations of bluegrass music.
