VBS Meets - Nick Cave - Part 1

When the VBS film crew first entered Nick Cave and Jim Sclavunos's hotel room (which had a really great and depressing view of Ground Zero, by the way), we were rushed for time and got the serious cold shoulder from Nick and Jim, who seemed weary of the press junket they were on and ready to pull out knives at the slightest provocation. Nick cracked wise about how he couldn't wait to get out of New York and return to London later that afternoon and Jim just glowered like an intimidating mad scientist. I'm a huge fan of The Bad Seeds and thanks to Nick's reputation of being a fearsome interview, I was ready to get totally shut down by some Old Testament-style fervor. He wears his contempt for music journalists on his sleeve and I can't really blame him. We suck.

Concerti 2011: Anna Calvi, tre date a ottobre

È piaciuta ai fan nostrani, ma anche a lei deve essere piaciuto venire qui da noi visto che di concerti la bella Anna ne ha programmati altri. Per la precisione Anna Calvi sarà on stage per tre imperdibili concerti live durante questo autunno. La vedremo dal vivo il prossimo 20 ottobre a Milano, il giorno seguente (21 ottobre) a Firenze e infine il 22 ottobre in quel di Roma. Ricordiamo che Anna Calvi (che, come è intuibile, porta con sé le origini italiane del padre) ha pubblicato il suo album di debutto omonimo solamente nel mese di gennaio di quest'anno. Ha immediatamente riscosso un ottimo successo di critica e pubblico non solo per il disco, ma anche per i concerti che quel disco lo promuovevano. Ed evidentemente Anna Calvi ci ha preso davvero gusto. La critica l'ha addirittura paragonata a pezzi grossi della musica britannica come PJ Harvey e Siouxsie Sioux e la bella cantante inglese annovera tra la sua folta schiera di fan gente come Karl Lagerfield e Nick Cave. Quest'ultimo, tra le altre cose, l'ha voluta con sé durante una serie di concerti con i Grinderman. Ricapitolando Anna Calvi, dopo essere stata qui da noi la scorsa estate, tornerà a farci visita per tre concerti imperdibili. Le date sono quelle del 20 ottobre all'Alcatraz di Milano, il 21 ottobre al Viper di Firenze e il 22 ottobre al Circolo degli Artisti di Roma.

The UK Mirror claims Kylie is looking to duet with the Material Girl for an upcoming TV special that will air in celebration of her career. A source says quote, 'There will be lots of duets. The plan so far is for a duet with her sister Dannii, Nick Cave, Jason Donovan and a finale featuring a duet with Madonna." Though the two women are big fans of one another, Madge and Kylie have never crossed paths. But they've each been spotted in the past wearing t-shirts featuring the other's name. We looove this idea.
