A Closer Look at My Week with Marilyn
http://bit.ly/clevvermovies - Click to Subscribe! http://Facebook.com/ClevverMovies - Become a Fan! http://Twitter.com/ClevverMovies - Follow Us! Hey guys, thanks for tuning back into clevver movies, Im Tatiana carrier with the story behind "my week with Marilyn" . Michelle Williams who portrays americas controversial sweetheart spoke to The Hollywood reporter about bring Monroe to life on the big screen in, "My Week With Marilyn...and weve learned, it wasn't as easy as she made it look! . Michelle revealed that while she was drawn to the story when approached to play Marilyn in the flick which offered a snapshot of a week of the actress' life during the 1950s, she worried that she wasn't ready for the commitment. She said, "I finished the last page, put it next to my bed and had already committed in my own mind to making this movie...But then the terror set in." . Unlike Michelle, Director Simon Curtis had no doubts that michelle was PERECT for the role... williams explained he came bearing gifts, books, and postcards to further entice Michelle to take on the challenge. . And get this! Even though Williams was pretty much offered the role...she insisted on auditioning anyway to make sure she was right for the part. Understandably, she was unsure if she could do justice to such an iconic character -- especially one who'd meant so much to her while growing up in Montana; she'd had a poster of Monroe on her bedroom wall that she stared at each night. . Another understandable concern...Williams was afraid she couldn't transform her look to really become Marilyn. She said quote, "There were certain unbridgeable gaps...I couldn't re-arrange my face and body to look like hers." . Finally in early 2010, after going back and forth on taking or not taking the role, Williams committed, and after $10 million in funding from Weinstein, it was a go. She said, "For me, the most crucial discovery -- the flash -- was that the widely accepted image of Marilyn Monroe was a character that Norma Jeane played...Unless you study her and understand her a bit better than the commonly accepted view, one could miss who she was underneath that. Marilyn was a part she played." Bringing Monroe's complicated duality to life was Williams' biggest goal. . And now after all of that, Williams is not pleased that she took the role, but now there is major Oscar buzz surrounding the actress in what is thought to be one of her best performances yet! I think Michelle Williams was the perfect choice to portray Marilyn, but what about you guys? If you were to cast this role, who would you choose? The flick documents the tense interaction between Olivier and Marilyn Monroe during production of The Prince and the Showgirl and stars michelle Williams as the infamous Marilyn. So lets see what the critics are saying about this highly anticipated controversial flick! . Lisa Schwartzbaum from Entertainment weekly was very impressed with michelles portray of the iconic Monroe...she said, "Michelle Williams plays Monroe, and she's a wonder." . 'Oz: The Great and Powerful' To Feature Black & White Opening
http://bit.ly/clevvermovies - Click to Subscribe! http://Facebook.com/ClevverMovies - Become a Fan! http://Twitter.com/ClevverMovies - Follow Us! The Wizard of Oz returns to the big screen! Hey guys, Tatiana Carrier here with ClevverMovies, your number one source for movie news. Well, as you may have heard, The Wizard of Oz is getting their prequel on the big screen, but it doesn't look like it will be your typical remake. Thank goodness! Joey King sat down with teenspot.com to talk about her roles in Sam Raimi's 'Oz the Great and Powerful', and also told them a little about the structure the new film will be taking. "It's a prequel to 'The Wizard of Oz...It's like the first movie, but this one explains how it all happened, how Oz became Oz, how it led to Dorothy coming." King also lets us know that like the old film, this one will also begin in black and white Kansas and then transition to the colorful world of Oz. Joey claims that working on such a huge project is 'amazing,' but considering that she's comparing that to working on Christopher Nolan's 'The Dark Knight Rises," we might just have to take her word for it. However, with James Franco as Oz and Michelle Williams as Glinda, it looks like Oz the Great and Powerful can't really go wrong. Keep your eye out for this film in March 2013. So do you guys think the new Oz will be amazing? Let us know what you think by commenting below, and make sure to sound off on our Twitter page @clevvermovies. I'm Tatiana Carrier, thanks for checking in.
Stars go bold on Critics' Choice red carpet
Stars graced the red carpet for the Critcs' Choice Awards in Los Angeles Thursday (January 12) in lots of solid colors, many picking darker shades.
George Clooney, who won the best actor trophy, was dressed in a black tuxedo and bow tie, his girlfriend Stacy Keibler contrasted nicely in a cream gown from Armani.
Michelle Williams and Tilda Swinton opted for bold wearing black and white ensembles, Williams in Chanel and Swinton in YSL.
Viola Davis, who won best actress, was a bright spot in a v-neck red gown.
Some actresses sparkled in warmer tones on the red carpet, Emma Stone wore an emerald green gown, Elle Fanning went retro in yellow floral ensemble from Rodarte and Elizabeth Olsen sparkled in a short yellow patterned dress.
Kirsten Dunst in Dior and Evan Rachel Wood in Valentino also showed that the Critics' Choice Awards could bring out the major designer names.
Silent movie "The Artist" tops BAFTA nominations list
Far from a silent cry, French movie "The Artist" kicks off this year's BAFTA race with a total of 12 nominations.
Following its headtrick triumph at the Golden Globes from the weekend the black-and-white comedy is in the running for some of the top prizes, including best film.
Hot on its heels is Cold War spy movie "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy" which received 11 nominations, including one for its leading actor.
SOUNDBITE: Daniel Radcliffe, actor, saying (English):
"I'd love Gary Oldman to get one for 'Tinker, Taylor', cause he's fantastic and it's a great film."
So one fan for sure but Oldman will have to outshine his fellow competitors including Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Michael Fassbender and Jean Dujardin if he wants to get his hands on his first BAFTA best actor award.
Elsewhere in the Best Actress category, it's Meryl Streep who made it onto the shortlist for her portrayal of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in "The Iron Lady."
She is up against Michelle Williams (My Week with Marilyn), Berenice Bejo (The Artist), Tilda Swinton (We Need to Talk About Kevin) and Viola Davis (The Help).
Overall competition this year seems more open than in 2011, says BAFTA chairman Tim Corrie.
SOUNDBITE: Tim Corrie, BAFTA chairman, saying (English):
"I think it's the diversity that is probably the most outstanding feature of what we've announced this morning. You know you're going from 'The Artist' to 'My Week with Marilyn' to 'Drive' to 'The Descendants' film and it's a braedth that we've not had for probably ten years I think there are 38 films covered this year as opposed to about to ten less last year. So -- it's a real mix and I would say if I can refer to it as a race that it's a really open one."
Other films hoping to make it first over the finish line on February 12 include Martin Scorsese's family adventure "Hugo", "My Week With Marilyn", "The Help" and Steven Spielberg's "War Horse."
