Teenage witches: ASSEMBLE!
Huh? Apparently, Sabrina the Teenage Witch is becoming a superhero. Stay tuned to ClevverMovies as we explain it all.
According to Deadline Hollywood, Sony Pictures is making a live action origin story for the precocious teen witch where she will come to terms with her magical powers. They are looking to another popular superhero, our favorite web-crawler Spider-Man as inspiration.
Salem, her talking black cat, will still be in the picture as a transformed prince, which will allow for some unique love stories. The tone of the movie will be edgier than the original 1960's comic and animated series. Don't plan on Melissa Joan Hart returning in the title role either. Real Steel producers Don Murphy and Susan Montford say that they hope this will be a star vehicle for an upcoming actress.
In addition to Murphy and Montford as producers and Jeff Stockwell as co-producer, Jon Goldwater of Archie Comics will serve as Executive Producer and Screenwriter, and Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari of Die in a Gunfight fame will write the script. Mean Girls director Mark Waters is reported to direct depending on his schedule.
