MARK CONWAY
PRESENTED BY PAULINE FREEMAN
Mark Conway is a singer songwriter who has become a formidable live draw across the country. Performing two fantastic shows on the Dublin City Soul Festival main stages (the second performance of which was broadcast on live radio), a debut US/ Worldwide release and an Irish debut EP release were all part of a very successful 2009 for Mark and his band. Touring the country extensively, Mark has rubbed shoulders with Irelands songwriting elite, supporting and even sharing bills with the likes of Mick Flannery, Luka Bloom, Don Baker, Freddie White and Juliet Turner. Recently he showed his strengths as a headliner himself, playing a very successful main stage show in Whelans. Mark is a live acoustic experience not to be missed!!!

I'm a song and dance man - I bring in a good lyric and a good vibe or beat, a song or tune that can sway and touch and stir whatever part of you it hits. I like to think that I can write a song that carries a story because I'm a great believer in storytelling. It's an ancient art and I grew up with storytelling and surrounded by great storytellers. I've travelled a bit in my day - not the holiday kind of travel but more on the road in your face kind of travelling and I like to include my experiences in my song writing. Most of my rambling was done by hitchhiking - I come from a nation of ramblers and rovers namely The Irish. Once upon a time I ran a folk club with my friend Nicky Leahy called "The Rakes Of Kildare" and any and everyone whose famous today in Irish Trad/Folk/Rock 'n' Roll played in that club - Christy Moore, Donal Lunny, Luka Bloom, Mary Black, Paul Brady, Freddie White, Andy Irvine, Na Fili, Liam O'Flynn, Sean Keane, Jimmy Crowley, Paddy Glacken, Tony McMahon, the list goes on and on. The club ran for about three years in the mid seventies in Newbridge. I've written about two and a half thousand songs or maybe more, it's an addiction, I write one and throw it in the corner and re discover it about a year or so later and think "did i write that?!"... But it's all fun - better go now cos i feel a song comin on and the first line goes - "See you in the spring when the sun kicks in"

PRESENTED BY TOM MILLETT
Luka Bloom (born 23 May 1955 in Newbridge, County Kildare, Ireland as Kevin Barry Moore) is an Irish folk-rock singer-songwriter. He is also the younger brother of Irish folk singer Christy Moore.
Bloom's style of guitar playing is very distinctive. In his early career (when still known by his real name of Barry Moore), Bloom used a fingerpicking style. However, tendinitis in his hands forced him to adopt a heavy and fast strumming style which is the one he still uses and is often credited with his success. He usually plays in the DADGAD tuning and plays his electric acoustic guitar through a bass amplifier and chorus pedal to produce a warm, haunting tone. In more recent years he has performed his sets entirely with a Spanish guitar with softer strings than his steel-strung electric acoustics: this has mellowed his tone somewhat. It is possible his change in guitar choice is related to his tendinitis (see also albums below).
DVD entitled "The Man is Alive" was released on 20 February 2008. It features concerts filmed in Dublin and at his home in Kildare, a question and answer session with fans, the documentary "My Name is Luka" and a CD of music taken from the two performances.

"Eleven Songs" was released in September 2008, featuring an expanded ensemble of instrumentation, giving the album a distinct sound within his catalogue.
