Gavin DeGraw Assaulted & Hospitalized in NYC

Singer Gavin DeGraw was reportedly viciously assaulted in New York City late Sunday night. TMZ was first to report the news that he was approached by multiple attackers and had to be hospitalized as a result. According to Reuters, the assault occurred at 4am in the East Village, and there's no clear reason as to what prompted it. DeGraw's rep has since issued a statement saying, "Gavin DeGraw was assaulted late Sunday night and taken to the emergency room at Bellevue Hospital by ambulance. He is currently under observation." He reportedly suffered a broken nose and cuts to his face. The identities of the attackers are still unknown at this point. Gavin, who lives in New York City, was scheduled to play a show with touring partners Maroon 5 in Saratoga Springs New York this evening, but his appearance at the concert has since been canceled. Adam Levine sent out a tweet that read, "Please send your love to @gavindegraw tonight. We love you buddy. Get well and get back out here!" Pretty scary story. Update on the Gavin DeGraw situation. According to E! Online, he has left the hospital. He was released today, and tweeted to his fans, Hi my friends. "Honestly, I don't remember much. I only know I can recover from here. Thank u all for your genuine concern. I love u guys." Since this morning new details emerged regarding the incident, including the fact that Gavin was hit by a taxi after the assault happened. People magazine reports that at 4am he got into some sort of argument with a group of men he didn't know. Sources in New York say it was a quote gang of thugs who attacked him, though there's still no motive at this point. The only other details are that he was alone at the time, was intoxicated, and had just left a club he co-owns with his brother called the National Underground. DeGraw's reps issued a statement saying "We have no additional details at this time." Well, we're just glad he's ok. There's a bit of confusion as everyone tries to figure which car to take, everyone except Gavin, who felt the need to soak up the camera time, even making sure the cameramen have their lights on. They finally make it in to one car after trying to wrangle Gavin. Let's just hope there wasn't any confusion on where they were going. No doubt, they were celebrating the end of this season of Dancing With The Stars!
