We all knew that the new Assassin's Creed would be taking us into a new direction, but I don't think any of us were ready for this surprise....
.
Hey Gamers, Joshua Ovenshire here for Clevver Games and it looks like we've just been given a glimpse of what we can expect from Assassin's Creed 3. Our first look came from Kotaku when a Best Buy tipster sent them a promotional image that showed an assassin holding a pistol, tomahawk, and backed by a bow and arrow....in front of a colonial flag. That's right, we going to be seeing the next Assassin's Creed game taking place during the revolutionary war. And if you were doubting these rumors and images, Ubisoft officially today released the box art for the game, proving that at least some time would be spent during the American Revolution.
.
We were also told, that on March 5th the game would be officially revealed with the announcement of pre order bonuses from Best Buy. Funny, this also coincides with GDC which starts the same day. And yes, we'll be covering that as well, so stay tuned.
.
Now at first glance, this looks really cool, and being a fan of the American revolution, I'll actually jump back into this franchise for that alone. Imagine it, historically, no one know who fired that first shot at Lexington and Concord that started the war. The shot around the world may actually come from this assassin. How awesome is that?! But on the other hand, the Assassin's Creed main gimmick was all the parkour coolness. Scaling up tall building and running the rooftops. You can't do that in early America. No building is larger than two stories, if that, and the buildings would be far and few between. Could Ubisoft be taking this game in a new direction all together? I guess we'll have to wait till October 30th to find out.
.
OR, what if, I'm just going to throw this out there, but what if the game takes place through out American History? Reliving pivotal parts in what made this nation what it is today? Could you imagine if, now I know this would be contriversal but what if Abraham Lincoln was a Templar who NEEDED to be assassinated. Imagine that? I see a lot of potential in this game, but I want to know what you guys think. What period would you want this new game to visit? And most importantly, are you digging the new look of the Assassin?
