XAVIER CARDRICHE
BALCONYTV.COM 23/05/2007
PRESENTED BY TOM MILLETT
Xavier Cardriche was raised in a musically diverse household that ranged from his mother's love for The Beatles to his father's devoutness to Fela Kuti. Even at a young age, Xavier felt the intensity of music and soaked up everything from Mariachi to Motown.
After picking up a guitar some years ago, Xavier's been going strong since. He began playing alongside his friends, who taught him the basics, and after mastering some Bruce Springsteen and Van Morrison covers, songwriting came instinctively. Over time and numerous graveyard shifts, Xavier wrote some original songs, worked the vocal chords out, and played those fledgling songs at local New York City open-mics. The process paid off with a listening audience, feedback, and some paying gigs. Even to this day, Xavier still extends many thanks to his friends for showing him how to bring music to his fingertips.
Xavier's raspy voice and meandering tunes emote an intimacy as if you are sitting alone with him. He is greatly influenced by such artists as David Gray, Dave Matthews, Donovan, Counting Crows, Ryan Adams, Damien Rice, and Jack Johnson.
Currently, Xavier has a short demo under his belt, which was recorded in Brooklyn at Terminal One Studios. The Demo EP features all his original work along with guest appearances from talented local artists. He has just recorded a live performance DVD / CD with his band, The Buybacks, which will be available this Fall.
Xavier has been blessed with a loyal fan base of folks from all walks of life. Whether he is belting out songs in New York, or even busking in Ireland, he flourishes in each venue, however intimate or unconventional.

FROM THE MORGAN HOTEL IN TEMPLE BAR
PRESENTED BY JESS KORPACZ THE INTERN

The VooDoos are a 5 piece rock band who formed together in 2010 on the Costa Blanca in Spain.
The guys started performing as a cover band and were quick to get a following from Spanish locals and tourists from all over the world, predominantly Ireland and England.

Taking influences from a wide range of artists such as Foo Fighters, Kings of Leon, Counting Crows, Led Zeppelin and many more the VooDoos found the creative streak that was needed to take their careers in music to another level. The band began writing songs and slipping them into their performance. Soon after their first original songs were heard the VooDoos were performing on local T.V and radio, and were also the main attraction for many music festivals around the Costa Blanca.

Their music is described as 'raw' and 'energetic', and when Radiohead manager Brian Message spotted them at a gig in Spain, that's exactly what he noticed. Message was quick to bring the boys over to Courtyard studios in Oxfordshire where they recorded a demo with producer Ian Davenport, who worked with the likes of Stereophonics.

Since January 2011 the VooDoos have been focusing on writing their first album. With the album on its way to being finished the guys are currently touring Ireland. They have gigged in some of the biggest venues in the country which is helping them to constantly build up their Irish fan base. The guys also got to the final of a Battle of the Bands on June 1st where they performed alongside 3 other bands in The Workmen's club in Dublin, one of Ireland's best music venues.

The VooDoos have a very busy summer coming up. As they finish their last few gigs in Ireland they are preparing themselves for a week's tour of Spain followed by a 3 month tour of America! The guys are going to be
supporting Queensryche for tours of the east and west coast of the States.
The guys are currently rehearsing their asses off as they prepare for the biggest move of their career so far.

In the midst of all the touring and performing, song-writing, self-promoting, photo-shooting, recording and much more, the lads are also able to get along as not just band mates but great friends.

Be sure to keep an on eye out for when and where The VooDoos are performing next. They are definitely a band not to be missed!
