Selena Gomez is being hailed the next biggest teen celeb, not just here in the states, but throughout the world, as well. Like her long time best friend and fellow celebrity, Demi Lovato, Selena is also a Texas native. The teen sensation was named after the famed singer of the same name. Selena's mom, Mandy, gave birth to her in New York City when she was only 16 years old. At a very young age, her family relocated to Texas, where Mandy was originally from herself. Selena's father, Ricardo Gomez and her mother split when Selena was only five years old, and she has spent the majority of her life with her mom, who recalls living from paycheck to paycheck as a young mom. And it was reportedly because of her mother that Selena was bit by the acting bug. Mandy herself was a stage actress and apparently Selena would sit next to her coloring as she prepared to hit the stage, and mom realized that Selena had the lines memorized better than she did. It was at that point that Selena said to her mom "I want to be like you!" Then at age 7, Selena landed her big role on Barney and Friends, also meeting Demi Lovato. Funny enough though, the episodes including Sel didn't actually air until she was in 5th grade, leading to some confusion as to how old she was when they were taped. After Barney wrapped, Selena enjoyed a handful of smaller roles in "Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over" and "Walker Texas Ranger: Trial By Fire." S-G received her next big break though when she was discovered in a Disney Channel nation wide talent search. Her first roles were on the Suite Life of Zack and Cody and a recurring role on Hannah Montana. During her time on Hannah rumors swirled that she and Miley Cyrus had a feud over two things - one being jealously over Selena's growing popularity and two being Nick Jonas. Of course both girls deny these rumors though. In an interesting twist, Selena was actually cast to play Stevie Sanchez in the spin-off of Lizzie McGuire, but the show never ended up airing. Either way, Selena made a great impression on Disney, and she was later offered her own series, "Wizards of Waverly Place." Not only that, she Sel also starred in "Another Cinderella Story," and a bit later in "Princess Protection Program" with her real-life bff Demi Lovato. Through these projects, Selena was first offered the opportunity to record music....first was a cover of "Cruella de Vil" for DisneyMania6, then songs for two of her TV movies, and then ultimately her own album with her band the Scene. Her debut release was certified a gold record. Aside from her music and singing careers, Selena is also a very active philanthropist, and the youngest ever ambassador for Unicef. Like her fellow Disney stars, she also participates in the Disney Friends for Change Campaign. Selena is also getting ready to launch her very own clothing line at Kmart, called Dream out Loud. It will include a variety of affordable pieces, and will included apparel, accessories and shoes. Selena's own fashion taste always includes her favorite shoes - Converse. The teen megastar describes herself as a being a "huge animal lover" and she has four dogs - Chip, Willy, Fina and Wallace. Despite the fact that she is an only child, Selena does have many close friends, including Taylor Swift, Jennifer Stone and Demi Lovato. Taylor Swift has been called almost a big sister figure to Selena - the two have talked about they've bonded over sharing heartbreak stories - and of course they've both famously dated Jonas Brothers. Gomez reportedly dated Nick Jonas over two separate time periods, but as of now she is single. Her ultimate celebrity crush though is Shia LaBeouf . She has also been linked to Twilight star Taylor Lautner, who she met while shooting her first big feature film "Ramona and Beezus" in Vancouver. This move into feature films marks a huge career move for Selena Gomez. Aline Brosh Mckenna, responsible for penning The Devil Wears Prada SOLD the new version of Cinderella to Disney for a reported 7 figure deal. This re-imaging of Cinderella is the classic tale of prince meets Cinderella, the mystery beauty who shows up at the ball, then disappears leaving nothing behind but a glass slipper. IT will be interesting to see what new direction Brosh Mckennas version will take us! No official studio deal just yet, but we will be sure to keep you posted as we get more details! Now with the warrior releaseing this week, I thought we would dedicate our top 5 Tuesday to top 5 boxing movies, now before you say it, I KNOW warrior is MMA, but there weren't too many of those out there so boxing will have to do! OK, coming in 5th place is Cinderella man starring Russell crowe & renee zillwiger. Cinderalla man released in 2005 is The story of James Braddock, a supposedly washed up boxer who came back to become a champion and an inspiration in the 1930s. In 4th place is ALI! Will smith is a legend and he went big willy style in ali, making this our almost first place holder. In Ali, Will smith portrays mohammad ali, the boxing legend and he did the man justice...the acting was incredible and the story line was even better... In 3rd place, we have a lady leading the bunch! Million Dollar Baby starring Hilary Swank is about A hardened trainer/manager who works with a determined woman in her attempt to establish herself as a boxer. This movie really made me fall in love with swank as an actress... In a close race for first, coming in 2nd is Martin Scorsese's RAGING BULL starring Robert dinero which is about An emotionally self-destructive boxer's journey through life... as the violence and temper that leads him to the top in the ring, destroys his life outside it. And coming in first place is... THE RROCKY FRANCHISE. I mean, did you rea`lly think it would be anything else? Sylvester stallone made this franchise a classic and made the rocky anthem a household favorite. If you haven't seen any of these movies, put on a pair of boxing gloves, punch yourself in the face, then rent buy or download it immediately. SO now that you've heard our list, share with us yours! L According to our news hook-up via our pals over at Wetpaint.com, the beautiful actress will play the Cinderella character, whose name will be Katie Gibbs. Miss L-H she tweeted out: "first day of filming Cinderella story with @megan_park @freddiestroma @misspyle and a few others was fantastic. Such a great group." So thanks to this tweet we know for a fact that Lucy is joined by Megan Park, Missy Pyle and Freddie Stroma in the rags to riches story. In fact, Megan also hit twitter to say that Lucy is "the sweetest girl," and that she "can tell [they] are going to have lots of fun!" This pair and the rest of the cast is likely having a blast shooting in Wilmington, North Carolina for the next several weeks.
