BALCONYTV TORONTO IS BROUGHT TO YOU IN ASSOCIATION WITH THE UNDERGROUND GARAGE
PRESENTED BY NOEL COPEMAN
http://www.undergroundgarage.ca

Take note. This is not just a fan base. This is a movement, and when the overnight success stories find that their fifteen minutes are up and the flavor of the month fans have moved on, Current Swell will continue recording and performing to legions of grass-roots aficionados that aren't going anywhere anytime soon. While other bands might sport the label "indie", this is a band that has made their mark independently in the truest sense. This music is listener supported.?

This is the opposite of an overnight success. In keeping with a modern world there is no story of a massive radio hit. No magic record contract signed to a major label to bring the music to the masses, no shout outs from friends in the biz, none of that. That's not to say that Current Swell has been bereft of accomplishments, but sometimes a band flies under the radar until it can no longer be ignored.

Case in point. Current Swell began with humble roots, as friends playing in backyards, at parties, on couches, on beaches, and in any situation that allowed for guitars to be strummed casually. Finding their Kafka moment, they found themselves on stages playing to packed clubs, in vans, planes, at major festivals, and all over the world, headlining concerts and making music for new and old fans. Touring Canada, Australia and the USA, and playing shows with acts like Xavier Rudd, Bedouin Soundclash, K-OS, K'Naan, Ron Sexsmith and even the Beach Boys, opened them up to new and enthusiastic audiences. Appearances at Ottawa Bluesfest, the 2010 Olympics, Junofest, Rifflandia, Salmon Arm Roots and Blues, and headlining Canada Day for 40,000 people at the BC Legislature continued their momentum. But this did not happen overnight.

In the strangest of places. No one was more surprised than the band when their lo-fi release "So I Say" became an underground classic among young people from all corners of the world. Scott Stanton of Current Swell remembers a story of when a friend on a surf trip in Bali, Indonesia, found a copy of the debut album in a hostel. Another story tells of the band stumbling across legions of web recordings made by Brazilian fans covering Swell songs, and even one group of keen fans doing their own version of the entire "Young and Able" video, with the scenes being re-shot in Brazil rather than Canada.

And so it goes. "Trust Us Now" was supported by word of mouth, relentless touring and a viral online fan base. The band's first release with national distribution, "Protect Your Own", was also the first to show up on industry radar, with national radio-play and a popular music video. By this point the band had become a festival mainstay, with artistic directors recognizing both the bands rampant fan base and the fervor they created with performances. Tours through the U.S. and sold out ticketed shows confirmed the bands suspicions that word had spread more than they knew.

Long Time Ago. The band began the long process of producing their latest LP "Long Time Ago" with the feeling that something special was going on. With a renewed work ethic, they focused intensely on songwriting and execution and set their standards high, recording and re-recording songs until they felt each track had been realized to its fullest. This is not a band looking to adapt to a radio format or searching for the catchiest hook, this is about respecting the process and giving the songs and music what they need. Again, this is a modern world. Is there any other way? And so...

Hello hello and welcome back to ClevverTV. I'm Dana Ward and right now we're going over two star standout looks for the Elton John Oscar party. These celebrity friends, Ashley Tisdale and Vanessa Hudgens both look fabulous for the most exclusive viewing party, so let's break down their different looks. Up first, Vanessa went for a metallic gold fitted floor length gown. The strapless cut and horizontal layers -- almost mimicking a bandage dress style -- looked fresh with the uber-detailed repeat rounded pattern. VH chose dark nails, a few standout accessories and a waved hairstyle with fresh makeup Meanwhile, Ashley chose a super feminine and flowy red gown. The over-the-top asymmetrical neckline is amazing -- especially with the standout open back. Since it is the Oscars, AT was sure to add some sparkle in the form of a clutch. Plus, her hair is casually styled which keeps the overall look young and fresh. These gals look great all dressed up for the big night, but we want to hear from you as to which look you think it super stylish this season. Are you more about the sleeker, metallic look or a more feminine, flowy color? Leave your comments below and for more fashion updates straight from Hollywood, be sure to follow us at twitter.com/clevvertv. I'm Dana Ward, see you soon on ClevverTV!

HEY OCEAN IS:
ASHLEIGH BALL -- VOCALS/FLUTE
DAVID BECKINGHAM -- VOCALS/GUITAR
DAVE VERTESI -- VOCALS/BASS
Often described as one of Canada's best up-and-coming acts, Hey Ocean is a young band with an extraordinary talent for blending various musical styles into a brand of infectious pop that is uniquely their own.
Together, Ashleigh Ball, David Beckingham and David Vertesi have created a musical repertoire that cannot be ignored -- be it on radio, television or your neighbor's iPod, Hey Ocean will soon be everywhere.
Aside from the skillful delivery of their music, what sets Hey Ocean apart is the spirited character they bring to the stage. Three mischievous personalities combine to form a dynamic live presence that keeps concertgoers captivated and on their feet. In fact, live performance has been an integral part of what the band calls their "natural growth." But what began as a very casual musical partnership between friends has, in less than four years, morphed into one of Canada's most successful independent bands.
In 2008, Hey Ocean unveiled It's Easier To Be Somebody Else, a fusion of playfully funked up party-pop and thoughtful lyric-driven ballads, introduced to Canadian fans with no less than three cross-Canada tours. Aspiring to capture the power and intensity of their highly-charged live show in the recording process, the band hooked up with famed indie producer José Miguel Contreras (By Divine Right, Meligrove Band, Lily Frost, The Bicycles).
"We were wondering, how do we bring us and our energy to an album? Who are producers that do that? For some reason, José's name came up. There's an urgency to the music that he records that we thought would work for us."
Leaders in the D.I.Y. generation, the band members have worked incessantly at building the groundwork of their career, releasing their sophomore album on their own label, Pop Machine, created with their friends from Vancouver band Said the Whale. Their efforts have been recognized by the industry, earning Hey Ocean opening spots with Xavier Rudd and Sarah Harmer. In the last year, they teamed up with Polaris Prize nominee Shad for dates across the country, and rocked thousands of fans alongside the much-admired Bedouin Soundclash. The band also wowed audiences at the Calgary Virgin Festival, the Saskatoon Jazz Fest, and the Whistler Arts Festival.
In 2011, Hey Ocean hopes to build on their solid reputation with Canadian fans by working even more: more music, more tours and as many more festivals and outdoor events as possible. By popular demand, the group is also making a path to the United States to connect with its ever-growing fan base south of the border.
"We can't wait to tour in other parts of the world and to experience those places the way we've been lucky enough to experience our own country. We've all traveled internationally, but the possibility of going away together and getting to share our music is a pretty exciting prospect."
Continuously leaving fans in awe, Hey Ocean combines sheer talent, charismatic songs, and an undeniably energetic live show, making them a must-see band.

Rush - Subdivisions (alternative clip experience)
Another successful band the group Rush are considered one of the best groups and precursors of progressive rock. The music played in this video is one of the most successful songs of the band titled Subdivisions which was reproduced in the Signals album launched in 1982, before the Moving Pictures in 1981. However this video shows the mix of music Subdvisions with the official video of another Rush hit song titled Roll the Bones released nine years after the album Signals in 1991. In my own opinion that was one the best mix made ??by Rush fan's with time including video and music combining speed scene transitions and a casual theme althought despite showing great difference.

Members: Subdivisions - Signals and Roll the Bones - Roll the Bones

Geddy Lee - Bass, Keyboards, Vocals

Alex Lifeson - Guitar

Neil Peart - Drums

Hey hey! Thanks for tuning in. Dana Ward here for ClevverTV and right now, let's talk fashion. The Hunger Games red carpet premiere in London just went down and Jennifer Lawrence went for another gold gown - this time by Ralph Lauren. The crocodile pattern was a bit funky but overall the look was classic - especially with the high halter neckline and black belted waist. Meanwhile, Liam Hemsworth kept it classy in a black charcoal 3-piece suit. You bet, he went for a guy's "go to" on the red carpet with a crisp white button down and black tie, but he added in a matching vest to switch up his look a bit... and then Josh Hutcherson went for a completely different fashion for this UK event as compared to the world premiere in Los Angeles with a more casual, yet still totally together style. He went for a warmer color palate, a honey brown suit, a lighter colored v-neck sweater with slate grey accents - from the button down and tie to the pocket square. If you want to take a closer look at these London THG fashions as well as other styles from the red carpet, just click the link below. I'm Dana Ward and we'll see you soon on ClevverTV.

Justin Bieber got pretty cheesy -- literally -- in a new twitvid he posted to promote his chart-topping single "Boyfriend." The singing prankster hit the popular social site with a casual video where he stood in front of a very romantic fake fireplace, looked into the camera to speak to fans and he said quote: "Hey Baby, this fondue is waiting for you. You wanna taste it?" Then he added "Boyfriend on iTunes." Then to get even more cheesed out and funny, J-B made another twitvid standing in front of a fake snow-scene, warming his hands, where he said: "It's cold out here -- know why? Cuz you're not with me. Boyfriend on itunes." Immediately after, the singer started cracking up. So do you guys think this funny move was a major fon-don't or a total fon-due?! We're going with the later, because any excuse to be cheesy and eat cheese has us totally on board! IF you want to check out the videos, click the link below and stick with ClevverTV around the clock for more scoop on Justin Bieber. I'm Joslyn Davis in Hollywood, thanks for watching.
