R-Rated Comedies Top Superhero Movies At Summer Box Office

Hey everyone, thanks for coming back to clevver movies, Im Tatiana carrier and I have a pretty cool story on our favorite rate R comedies! According to the Hollywood reporter, Combined, the summer's five R-rated comedies have grossed $1.05 billion to date, an astounding total for a genre of movies that was considered second-rate only a few years ago. In comparison, that number is just a tiny bit a head of the 1.01 billion earned by superhero movies, thor, xmen first class, green lantern and captain America the first avenger. Warner Bros.' sequel The Hangover Part 2 really helped the rated r comedy world by contributing a worldwide total of $563 million, followed by Universal's femme comedy Bridesmaids, which has earned an impressive $234.5 million, then Sony's Cameron Diaz's Bad Teacher with $164.8 million. You're back at ClevverTV, hey guys I'm your host Joslyn Davis with breaking news in the TV world. ABC is launching plans in to action right now to bring Charlie's Angels back to TV screens. Drew Barrymore, who starred alongside Cameron Diaz and Lucy Lui in the movie versions of the TV show, will executive produce the Charlie's Angels return. However, in a twist, the show will be set not in LA, but in Miami. No word yet on who the casting directors have in mind, but Miley Cyrus, Blake Lively and Megan Fox are a few of the names currently being tossed around. Don't expect this to be a fluffy, feel-good-only show. People behind the scenes say that the characters are real and emotionally grounded, but of course they'll still be hot, wear great clothes and kick serious butt. As far as Charlie, he'll still be in the box, and Bosley will be back, possibly as a dog! Ok, so that was just a joke from show-makers, but it could be funny. IF so keep on watching for the latest from ABC Family. Hello TV watchers. I'm Joslyn Davis for ClevverTV and today we're super excited to bring Raven Symone fans some great news. The veteran actress will make her TV return, starring in a new ABC Family comedy series called "The Great State of Georgia." We are so excited to hear that the network is adding an all-out comedy to its docket, especially since the super funny Greek will be ending with this season. Raven will play Georgia in the half hour series, an aspiring actress as well as her nerdy, science-loving bff as they try to make it in the big apple. As a fun side note, Jennifer Weiner is one of the producers on the series -- she's super well-known from penning one of my top books --turned-movies, "In Her Shoes," which starred Toni Collette and Cameron Diaz. The actress responsible for playing one of Twilight's most popular human characters is about to take on one of life's most important roles in her next film, and that of course would be the role of motherhood. Anna Kendrick is set to star alongside a slew of Hollywood heavyweights that includes Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Lopez and Brooklyn Decker in Lionsgate's "What to Expect When You're Expecting." According to Hollywood Crush, the flick is going to be a "Love Actually" style mash-up of multiple plotlines -- only this time it's gonna be all about babies! Anna will play Rosie, a young lady who "reunites with an attractive old flame after a turf war between their respective food trucks, and they embark on a funny, poignant journey together in the wake of a surprise pregnancy." I don't know about you all but I'm already dying to see this movie -- Anna Kendrick is one of the Twilight Saga's biggest stand-outs, especially considering the fact that she was nominated across the board for her role in Up In The Air. Hey guys, Im tatiana carrier and its Tuesday which means one thing in the movie world...NEW DVD RELEASES! So heres my top 3 new on dvd list to help you decide which you will buy rent or download this week! Coming in third place is Monte Carlo- which is about A high-spirited high school graduate ( played by Selena Gomez) who vacations in Paris with her best friend Emma (played by Katie Cassidy) and uptight stepsister Meg (played by Leighton Meester) ... despite the allures of the City of Lights, the trio have a terrible time. Just as the girls think their trip is further ruined when their hyperactive tour guide leaves them behind, Grace is mistaken for a wealthy socialite and the trio is whisked away to Monte Carlo for a thrilling week of glitz, glam, and unforgettable fun. This movie is great for all ages and I think is definitely worth the rental! Coming in 2nd place is BAD TEACHER. As you guys know the flick did really well in the box office for rated r comedies and is about Elizabeth Halsey played by Cameron Diaz, who is ruthless, wildly inappropriate and says exactly what's on her mind. When she's dumped by her fiance, she sets her plan in motion to win over a rich, handsome substitute teacher, Jason played by Justin Timberlake. This is definitely a crass flick but who said crass wasn't hilarious? And my top dvd pick of the week is Pirates of the Caribean on stranger tides. Johnny Depp returns to his iconic role of Captain Jack Sparrow in this action-packed sequel. Sparrow crosses paths with Angelica played by Penelope Cruz, a former lover and the daughter of the legendary pirate Blackbeard played by Ian McShane, who's using Sparrow's name to mount an expedition to find the fabled Fountain of Youth. She forces him aboard the "Queen Anne's Revenge," Blackbeard's vessel, and they embark on an unexpected adventure in which he doesn't know whom to fear more: Blackbeard or Angelica. Along the way they encounter Jack's old nemesis, Captain Hector Barbossa played Geoffrey Rush, mermaids, all sorts of treachery, voodoo and magic! If you're a pirates fan, I would say skip the rental and buy this one, its totally worth your movie bucks! According to Deadline, Walden Media has secured rights to turn Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego into a live-action film involving Jennifer Lopez. Word is the film was being developed to have Jennifer star as the title character, but Walden Media says that at this point, she's attached to produce only. In the movie, ACME's top detective Carmen Sandiego becomes the world's best theif. Now it's up to her former partner to track her down. But is she really a thief or a hero? More importantly, would J-Lo be your pick to play Carmen? Lopez recently wrapped the Lionsgate film adaptation What To Expect When You're Expecting with Cameron Diaz, out Mother's Day weekend. The American Idol judge also just finished shooting the Taylor Hackford-directed thriller Parker with Jason Statham for FilmDistrict. This week, in honor of New years eve, we countdown the top 5 ENSEMBLE romantic comedies of all time! I mean, whats better than a rom com? AN ENSEMBLE ROM COM! So let's get started!!! . Coming in a 5 on our countdown is, He's Just Not That Into You. This movie was made after the top selling book made waves in the lives of girls everywhere...the main message being, well, hes just not that into you! The flick takes the same storyline with an allstar cast of Ben Affleck, Jennifer Aniston, Jennifer Connelly, Ginnifer Goodwin, Scarlett Johansson, Bradley Cooper, Kevin Connelly, and Justin long! . In 4th place is The Holiday. The flick follows two women troubled with guy-problems swap homes in each other's countries, where they each meet a local guy and fall in love. The flick stars Kate Winslet, Cameron Diaz, Jack black and Jude Law! . Third place goes to Crazy, Stupid Love. This flick is about A middle-aged husband's life that changes dramatically when his wife asks him for a divorce. He seeks to rediscover his manhood with the help of a new-found friend Jacob, learning to pick up girls at bars. The flick stars a few of my favs, steve corral, ryan gosling, emma stone, and julianne moore ... simply seeing steve corral trying to pick up chicks while gosling coaches him through it all is totally worth the watch!..and lets be real, I'm not mad at ryan goslings abs either . And in second place is one of my favorites, Love Actually. Love actually Follows the lives of eight very different couples in dealing with their love lives in various loosely and interrelated tales all set during a frantic month before Christmas in London, England. . Valentine's Day comes in 1st! This seriously packed all star cast includes are you ready???? Jessica Alba , Kathy Bates, Jessica Biel, Bradley Cooper, Eric Dane, Patrick Dempsey, Jaime Foxx, Jennifer Garner, Topher Grace, Anne Hathaway, Ashton Kutcher, Queen Latifah, Taylor LAutner, George Lopez, Shirley Maclaine, emma Roberts, Julia Roberts, Jewel, Taylor Swift and as if that wasn't enough...MORGAN FREEMAN as the narrator! The flick centers around the Intertwining of couples and singles in Los Angeles...from their makes ups to break ups all based on the crazy expectations of Valentine's Day. This comes in at number one not only because it took me 45 minutes to list out the ensemble cast, but because this flick inspired New Years Eve which is created by the same folks behind valentines day!
