il doit régulièrement subir les moqueries de ses camarades de classe, à cause de sa petite taille et de son caractère introverti. Il commença la guitare à l'age de 5 ans, et s'intéressa beaucoup à la musique. Il devint notamment fan de Black Sabbath, dont il entendu parler pour la première fois à 6 ans, puis s'intéressa à Slayer, Kiss, Venom, Cannibal Corpse ou encore Mercyful Fate. Arrivé au lycée, Joey monte un groupe avec des amis, où il prit la place de guitariste. Il dut rapidement s'occuper de la batterie à cause de la médiocrité de leur ancien batteur, il a alors 17 ans. Ce fut pour lui la révélation.

À la sortie du lycée, Joey décida de continuer la musique. Il entra dans plusieurs groupes, notamment Modifious (avec Craig Jones), Anal Blast (avec Paul Gray) dont il écrivit l'album Vaginal Vempire, ou encore The Rejects (actuellement connu sous le nom Murderdolls). Ces groupes ne lui permettant pas de gagner suffisamment d'argent, il travailla la nuit dans une station-service appelée Sinclair's et dans un magasin de disque appelé Music Land.

Un jour, son meilleur ami lui présente Corey Taylor, mais ce dernier ne lui fera pas bonne impression. Quelques mois plus tard, en 1995, Joey est contacté par Paul Gray pour intégrer un groupe naissant : Slipknot. Il intégra le poste de batteur au sein du groupe
Le masque de Joey est un masque de Kabuki agrémenté de cicatrices peintes en noir, ou de faux sang. L'origine de ce masque provient d'un soir d'Halloween, en rentrant du cinéma où il avait justement vu le film Halloween :
« Ma mère était planquée dans un buisson. Je descends de voiture, j'arrive devant la porte et la voilà qui saute hors de son buisson avec ce masque sur la tête. Elle m'a foutu la trouille de ma vie et j'ai bien cru que ma dernière heure avait sonné. »

Orson - Happiness
Formé en 2000 à Hollywood (donc) le groupe tire son nom d'une légende locale et mondiale : Orson Welles, génie du cinéma, auteur de Citizen Kane et de célèbres adaptations de William Shakespeare. Un choix qui s'explique par l'esthétique théâtrale propre au groupe. Formé aux arts du spectacle, le chanteur, Jason Pebworth est un fan de Broadway et de tout ce qui brille de l'aura du mythe. Ce magicien qu'était Welles, construisant et déconstruisant à l'envi les mythes, ne pouvait que séduire un rêveur comme lui.

La musique d'Orson conserve un ancrage précis, qu'on pourrait croire démodé : le hard FM de Queen ou Black Sabbath (deuxième période) ainsi que la tradition soft californienne marquée par Hall & Oates, Fleetwood Mac (deuxième période itou) ou les Doobie Brothers. The Darkness ou Phoenix (qui avait réactualisé « Surrender » de Cheap Trick) ont prouvé qu'il n'en était rien et que bien accommodées, ces recettes pouvaient toujours être du goût des clubbers.

Tout comme les Arctic Monkeys, le groupe a bénéficié du nouveau rôle d'Internet dans la promotion musicale. Relevé par le magazine « Q » comme un des 50 titres les plus téléchargés en décembre 2005, il n'en finit plus d'enfler sur la bulle web depuis, jusqu'à dépasser en avril 2006 le record d'iTunes. Leur premier album, qui devrait paraître en juin, est donc très attendu.

Black Sabbath - Electric Funeral

"Electric Funeral" was the fifth song off of Black Sabbath's second album Paranoid, released in 1970. The song deals with nuclear war and its aftermath. While thematically similar to War Pigs, the song lyrics are even darker, a fact complemented by an eerie main riff.

It is one of the more obscure songs from the Paranoid album, but also a fan favorite. The band even played the song on their reunion concert in 1997. The song was covered by Pantera on the second Nativity in Black 'Sabbath tribute album, as well as by power metal band Iced Earth on their "Melancholy EP". Beavis and Butt-head also do an air guitar imitation of the song riff in one of their episodes.

Its inspiration is mixed with war and its relation to great stories, such as ?The Lord of The Rings? and ?Troy?, important features in the name of the band.

Musical Basis: The band VarTroY has as a core of its musical base the band Iron Maiden and, around this band, other ones inside traditional, melodic and progressive heavy metal, in addition to hard rock. Some of these bands are: Metal Church, Dream Theater, Savatage, Dr. Sin, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Dave Matthews Band, Metallica, Scorpions, UFO and AC/DC. The harmony among these influences consolidates the style of VarTroY.

Musicians: The present musicians have music experience, playing in pubs, festivals, participations, etc. All of them are influenced by Iron Maiden, which is favorable to the style defined by the band, however, each musician follows a different variation of heavy metal, what makes possible the diversity related to the band. The professional attitude, fixed by each one makes possible the progressive and well directioned growth towards the goal of the band VarTroy.

Songs: The Band VarTroY is focused on working its own songs according to the defined style, songs which are being added slowly to the presentation´s set list.

Master of Reality and Volume 4 (1971?1973)

In February 1971, Black Sabbath returned to the studio to begin work on their third album. Following the chart success of Paranoid, the band were afforded more studio time, along with a "briefcase full of cash" to purchase drugs."We were getting into coke, bigtime", Ward explained. "Uppers, downers, Quaaludes, whatever you like. It got to the stage where you come up with ideas and forget them, because you were just so out of it."

Production completed in April 1971, and in July the band released Master of Reality, just six months after the release of Paranoid. The album reached the top ten in both the US and UK, and was certified gold in less than two months, eventually receiving platinum certification in the 1980s. Master of Reality contained Black Sabbath's first acoustic songs, alongside fan favourites such as "Children of the Grave" and "Sweet Leaf".Critical response of the era was again unfavourable, with Lester Bangs of Rolling Stone dismissing Master of Reality as "naïve, simplistic, repetitive, absolute doggerel", although the very same magazine would later place the album at number 298 on their 500 Greatest Albums of All Time list, compiled in 2003.

Following the Master of Reality world tour in 1972, Black Sabbath took its first break in three years. As Bill Ward explained: "The band started to become very fatigued and very tired. We'd been on the road non-stop, year in and year out, constantly touring and recording. I think Master of Reality was kind of like the end of an era, the first three albums, and we decided to take our time with the next album.

10.10.2009 / Banda formada per una parella d'Israel, Mickey Triest (bateria) i Juval Haring (guitarra, veu). Un dia es van cansar de mirar la penosa tele d'Israel i i de menjar fideus fregits (caram amb akests israelites) i van decidir montar una super banda en forma de duet.
Es podría dir que si tinguessin alguna influència especifica s'els podría relacionar amb Black Sabbath i The Velvet Underground.

Black Sabbath News: ci sarà la reunion?

Quella, per intenderci, con Ozzy Osbourne alla voce. Era un po' che non uscivano ulteriori news al riguardo, ma ci aspettavamo che prima o poi succedesse quello che abbiamo sempre visto e cioè che periodicamente si rifacessero sentire voci su una eventuale reunion. Durante il mese di febbraio 2011 era stato Geezer Butler a parlare della questione reunion dei Black Sabbath dicendo, testuali parole, che "non ci sarà mai nessuna reunion del quattro membri originali dei Black Sabbath, né per registrare un nuovo album né per un tour". Queste dichiarazioni arrivavano a smentire le voci e distruggere le speranze dei fan vecchi e nuovi. Adesso però interviene Ozzy Osbourne. Il mangiatore di pipistrelli (che qualche tempo fa, neo patentato, si è schiantato con un Ferrari) ha detto a Billboard: "Adesso ho il privilegio di poter scegliere. Se una cosa non mi va, non la faccio. Magari potrei fare la reunion dei Black Sabbath". A queste parole l'intervistatore ha citato a Ozzy proprio le parole di Geezer Butler che noi vi abbiamo riportato più sopra. Ozzy non ha lasciato attendere la risposta: "è una faccenda che comunque è lì nell'aria. Sono sicuro al 100% che prima o poi arriverà una richiesta ufficiale, seria. Io al momento mi sto divertendo col mio gruppo, e non avrei nessuna voglia di fare passi indietro e mettermi in una situazione in cui c'è tensione. Però mi piacerebbe molto fare un altro disco dei Black Sabbath". Questo continuo susseguirsi di dichiarazioni e smentite non fa altro che contribuire alla rassegnazione dei fan o, al contrario, ad una eccessiva aspettativa. Nel caso in cui assisteremo ad una reunion dei Black Sabbath originali con Ozzy alla voce, speriamo almeno che il disco sia sorprendentemente bello.
