Does Jeremy Lin and "Linsanity" Mean Asian Expansion For NBA?

For the past several weeks, NBA star Jeremy Lin has been the talk of the US basketball world. On the business side, the sports' authorities and investors are also hoping that the Asian-American star will mean renewed growth to their East Asian fan-base.

Jeremy Lin was born in the United States, but his Taiwanese heritage makes him stand out in the NBA, where most stars have traditionally been African-American or Caucasian.

And like all break-out sports sensations, Lin has quickly turned into a commodity for both the consumers of NBA-related media, and for those who run the business of the sport. It's clear that being of Chinese ancestry is now a key element to the Lin brand.

[Scott Levy, Vice-President, NBA Asia]:
"Jeremy has brought new additional fan base to the game. And I think our partners and prospective partners all see that, and understand that basketball is very popular and becoming more so. They have great interest in associating with the NBA."

According to Levy, Lin's brand has appeal throughout Asia, not just in the Greater China region. He says there are now numerous TV stations in Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines that are trying to obtain broadcast rights for Lin's games, those of the New York Knicks.

Yet in Mainland China, which remains the NBA's biggest target market, the issue might not be how far Lin's fame reaches, but rather whether his fan-base is allowed to grow by political authorities.

Lin is already wildly popular in China, but some of his games have been censored from broadcasts due to the appearance of Taiwanese flags among his fans in the bleachers. Some also speculate that the basketball star's Christian faith, and American citizenship, are behind Communist Party discomfort with his status as a "representative of the Chinese people."

Jennifer Lopez is hitting the road for a 60-date world tour, and she's taking a fellow Latino popstar with her! Hey guys, welcome back to ClevverMusic. As if a JLo show wasn't already going to be a guaranteed dance party, the latest news confirms that idea - as she is bringing Enrique Iglesias on tour as well. Can I just say, "Baby I Like It?"

The two will kick off the co-headlining tour in June in South America. Though JLo went on a mini tour with then-hubby Marc Anthony in 2007, this is her first real world tour. And a source close to Lopez says she "is very excited about [Enrique] joining the tour." In fact, the two aren't just touring buddies, they're duet partners too! JLo and Enrique collaborated on the song "Mouth 2 Mouth" last year.

Now - The full set of tour dates have yet to be confirmed, but JLo and Enrique will reportedly visit the United States, South America, Europe and Asia after this season of 'American Idol' wraps up. Some of you may remember that Enrique was supposed to do a world tour last year with Britney Spears, but pulled out right after it was announced because well, he thought he was co-headlining, and not just Brit's opening act.

So what do you guys think about Enrique Iglesias joining JLo on tour? Will you catch them this summer - and who are you more excited to see?? Leave your thoughts in the comment section below, and don't forget to subscribe to ClevverMusic. Thanks for watching, I'll see you next time!

Diablo 3 Multiplayer Goes Intercontinental

'Diablo 3' allows intercontinental multiplayer & Blizzard takes a cut of Auction House earnings. What's up Everyone and welcome back to Clevver Games, with some interesting news from Blizzard.
They revealed today that Characters and items in Diablo 3 will be bound to one of 3 server regions: The Americas, Europe, & Asia. Now- you can't move characters between the regions, but you will have access to "Global Play," which will let you create new characters in territories other than your home region. You'll be allowed to interact with other players on those servers with only One restriction: You can't bid in the Real-Money Auction House in any region other than your own.
Now Speaking of that- Blizzard also announced today that the real-money Auction House won't launch until 1 week after Diablo 3's May 15 launch. Blizzard posted a comprehensive FAQ on the controversial auction system on the game's official site giving us insight into a few interesting things.
The biggest point- if you were hoping to turn the game into a business opportunity you might be discouraged to learn that Blizzard is gonna take $1 off the top of every sale & they're going to charge a 15% transfer fee to move money through a third party system like PayPal. Now, you can avoid that surcharge by moving funds to your Battle.net account, where you can use your money to pay for games, subscriptions, & in-game items. But the crappy part is- once you do that- the money can't be refunded back into real-life cash. Totally Blows!
So what do you think of intercontinental multiplayer? Do, you think it's interesting? Also, do you feel like Blizzard is ripping you off with all the Auction House Fees? Leave me a comment and let me know. Until next time, I'm Hailey Bright and thanks for watching Clevver Games.
