Weekend Box Office Wrap-Up: Contagion, Warrior, Bucky Larson

Hey everyone thanks for tuning back into Clevver movies, I'm Tatiana Carrier and Ive got the results from this weekend's box office! As we predicted, Contagion did dominate the box office this weekend! Steven Soderbergs Contagion took in 23.1 million in its opening weekend knocking The Help to 2nd place. Contagion, starring Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jude Law, Laurence Fisburne, Kate Winslet and Bryan Cranston, is about as a team of doctors, world health officials and citizens caught up in trying to stop a worldwide viral outbreak. The $60 million pic received a B- CinemaScore, with more than 80% of the audience over the age of 25. The Help has been in 1st place for the past 25 days so we think its ok for the ladies to step aside and let someone else get a little shine. The helps first place domination was the best showing since the 6th sense which was in first for 35 days and still stay strong in the top three earning 8.7 million this weekend with a total of 137.1 so far. Lionsgate's mixed martial arts drama Warrior starring Nick Nolte, Joel Edgerton and Tom was expected to gross a solid 7-8 million in its opening weekend, but actually only brought in about 5.6 million throughtout the weekend. This number still got the flick in the top three, and scored an impressive A on cinema score. WE are thinking through good word of mouth recommendations, the movie should remain strong for the next couple of weeks. As we suspected, Focus Features and Miramax's thriller The Debt starring Helen mirron, Sam Worthington and Tom Wilkinson continued to impress in its second weekend, placing No. 4 and grossing an estimated $4.9 million for a cume of $22 million. The last of the openers, Bucky Larson: Born to be a Star, was precisely that...the r rated comedy produced by Adam Sandler's Happy Madison, completely bombed, opening to only $1.5 million from 1,500 theaters to fall outside of the top 10---one of the worst studio openings in recent times. On the bright side, if there is one, the flick earned a B on Cinema score. So tell us, did you guys see any of these openers? Bailee Madison beat the Biebs in the battle of the Valentine's Day box office. ClevverTV has the story up next! Hi everyone. I'm Joslyn Davis for ClevverTV with a quick recap on this weekend's box office numbers, and let's just say overall it was huge weekend at the movies. And funny enough, it appears as though being linked to Selena Gomez might be good for one than one person. First up, Justin Bieber's documentary movie pulled in much higher than expected numbers, but even then, he couldn't beat out Selena's Wizards of Waverly Place co-star, Miss Bailee Madison, whose movie "Just Go With IT" pulled in 30.5 million dollars over the Valentine's Day weekend. And, of course it's no secret that Bailee is one of our favorite guests on the show. That said, we couldn't be happier to announce that one of the media world's most respected publications, The Washington Post, is paying big respect to the young actress with an article that kicks off with this line: "How 11-year-old Bailee Madison stole Adam Sandler's movie." Yep, watch out Adam Sandler, Bailee Madison just stole the show. Forget the heavy-weights in this movie -- like Jennifer Aniston and Brooklyn Decker. Oh no, all eyes appear to be on Miss B! In fact, one reporter from NY1 adds that "she's a terrific young actress, has great comedic timing, and if she keeps pursuing her acting career, she may become a big star one day." We couldn't agree more. So from all of us here at ClevverTV -- huge congrats to Bailee, who is so sweet and deserves every ounce of success. On another exciting note, Bailee's movie "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark," which co-stars Katie Holmes and was produced by Guillermo Del Toro just got a release date for August 12th -- so more awesome stuff coming from this lady very soon! Hey guys, welcome back to the show, I'm Joslyn Davis coming to you from the heart of Hollywood. Justin Bieber already has us sold on his stand-out status as an entertainer, and now, he can add boyfriend of the century to his growing resume. Over the weekend, Justin hit twitter to say "Romance isn't dead. Treat your lady right fellas." This was a very under the radar hint about what the singer had in the works. On Friday, Justin and his girlfriend Selena Gomez headed out to LA Live to see their friend Demi Lovato hit the stage at the Nokia Theater. According to TMZ, around 11pm, Justin told Selena quote: "follow me." Then he escorted her to a secret tunnel that connects the Nokia Theater to the Staples Center, which is the arena that plays home to the LA Lakers. Once they got into the arena, Justin had apparently arranged for a table for two to be set up on the floor, complete with a fancy steak dinner. Then to top of this experience and really take the romance to a whole new level, the duo watched "Titanic" on a big screen as they shared dinner. Some say that the date was originally inspired by "Mr. Deeds," an Adam Sandler movie, where he takes his date to Madison Square Garden for a private date. How amazing is this date? Also, just to clarify, Justin actually nabbed the venue for free as a sort of thank you from Staples for selling out the arena three times. Wow, guys, so what do you think of this amazing date?
